We have the loft reserved at the Sanctuary Rock
Gym in Sand City (just North of Monterey) for eating, swapping geo-stories,
and if you have the inclination, getting pumped on the radical climbing
walls that the gym has to offer.
Time
to meet: May 28 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
What to expect: If you want to come and hang with the locals, it's
free. If you want to take part in what the climbing gym has to offer it's
$15.00 and your John Hancock on the liability release form (includes harness and
shoes). If you bring your own harness and shoes it may be a bit cheaper
(you'll have to cut a deal with the gym staff). If you know how to
climb/belay, then all the better. You may get called into service to help
the newbie geo-climbers. Belay lessons are available for a small
additional fee and is relatively easy to master.
What to bring: Bring a side dish, drinks (non alcoholic) or
desert to share with everyone. I'll bring sandwiches (Quizno) or pizza
(Costco). Please post your preference in your log below. Majority
rules and I'll bring whatever gets the most votes.
How to get there: I guess you could follow your GPS and find it,
but in the interest of keeping people off of the back roads of beautiful
downtown Sand City, here's
a link to a map.
