Geocache Description:

The cache is a green ammo box, located near the Rengstorff House in Shoreline Park, Mountain View. It is NOT on the property, but close by. The cache can only be retrieved with the help of a special tool that can be found close by.

Rengstorff House, one of the nicest Victorian Style houses on the West Coast is definitely worth visiting. (opening/tour times: Tue, Wed, Sun from 11am to 5pm) Built by Henry Rengstorff in 1867, it is now located inside Shoreline Park, adjacent to a lake, wetlands and bird sanctuary. (see also http://www.r-house.org) Henry Rengstorff was born in Northern Germany. Tempted by the gold that was found in 1849 he came to the Golden State at the age of 21. Arriving too late in 1850 he decided to work on steamers and farms. With the money that he made, he bought land and established a ship landing in the South Bay that helped developing the economic growth of Mtn. View and the surrounding area. Please visit the house and enjoy the beautiful scenery, while making a trip in the park. The position of the cache is NOT on the property of the Rengstorff House and its garden. You have to find a tool first in order to remove the cache out of its hiding place. Once you have found either the cache or the tool you are close to finding the counterpart. (see hint below) The place is very popular with visitors, especially on nice and sunny days. Nevertheless it is easy to hide once you have retrieved the cache. :-) That is also one reason why I had the idea with the tool. Enjoy and give me feedback on my first hidden cache. I hope you like it. The original content were all little kids toys and lots of "golden" coins.
