The cache is near the Leaning Tree Boat Dock and is located only a couple hundred feet from the large parking area. The terrain starts as tall grass, but near the cache it turns into thick, thorny brush. There is no trail but if you approach from the southwest, the going is slightly easier...
The container is an ammo can and contains various items for trade.
Entrance to the lake is FREE (they used to charge, but not any more)
Bone Creek Lake is a relatively new 540 acre reservoir that supplies water to numerous small towns in the area. It is not primarily a recreational facility except for fishing, but there are boat ramps and parking areas that are nice. Unfortunately, there are no hiking trails, and the place has lots of ticks, snakes & thorns. It's a very rugged but interesting area.
Bald eagles nest at the lake - look out for the eagle's nest on the top of a tall pole as you cross the dam - be sure & post on the log if you saw any!
The roads in the area can be confusing, so I suggest you bring a map, as we don't want anyone driving into the lake! (It has happened...) There are maps posted by the parking areas, but they don't show where you are, so they aren't always much help.
Cache placement permission has been obtained from the manager.
PLEASE make sure cache container is closed properly to maintain its watertight properties. This lake does flood & I would prefer the cache contents stay dry. Thanks!!
