There is NO ENTRY FEE anymore for the Bone Creek Reservoir area.
Bone Creek Reservoir is owned by Rural Water District #11 and they had previously charged an entrance fee, but in January, they joined the Community Fisheries Assistance Program of Kansas, so now assess is FREE.
Bone Creek Reservoir is a relatively new 540 acre lake that supplies water for numerous small towns. It is not primarily a recreational facility except for fishing, but there are boat ramps and parking areas that are nice. Unfortunately, there are no hikeing trails, and the place has lots of ticks. It's a very rugged but interesting area.
Bald eagles nest at the reservoir just about every year (look out for the eagle's nest on top of the pole on the dam).
Cache placement permission has been obtained from the manager.
The roads in the area can be confusing, so I suggest you bring a map (we don't want anyone getting lost & driving into the lake). There are maps posted by the parking areas, but they don't show where you are, so they aren't much help sometimes.
There is an obvious parking turnoff from the road only a few hundred feet east of the cache. Approaching the cache from the east is the easiest route.
The terrain is uneven, & steep in places, there is no trail & you will encounter thorns, vines & probably a whole bunch of ticks in the warmer months. No poison ivy, though!
The container is a medium ammo box and contains various items for trade.
