Geocache Description:

Located with permission on the grounds of the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane's historic Browne's Addition.

David Thompson was a noted geographer, cartographer, and explorer who traveled the Columbia River Plateau between 1807-1811. Initially employed by the Hudson's Bay Company, it was under the flag of the North West Company that the Saleesh House (Montana), Kulleyspell House (Idaho), and Spokane House (Washington) fur trading posts were established by Thompson.

Learn more about "Koo-Koo-Sint" (Stargazer) by visiting the exhibit "The Mapmaker's Eye: David Thompson on the Columbia Plateau" which opens October 8, 2005 at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane, WA.

This cache contains a log book, David Thompson trivia cards, and small trade items. In the spirit of early fur trappers in this area, you are welcome to take an item from the cache and leave something behind. Note that what you write in the logbook or leave in the cache may be used in a future museum exhibit/display. Watch your footing!
