Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are NOT the location of the cache.

This cache will exercise your waypoint projection skills.

The above coordinates are for the most suitable parking area. There is another parking area a little closer to the cache, but coming from that direction will take you through some poison ivy patches, I don’t recommend it. To find the coordinates of the cache, you must start with the coordinates listed above for the parking spot and project a new waypoint using the bearing (relative to true north, not magnetic) and distance listed in the table below. Once you have found the new waypoint, determine what well known Michigan landmark lies at that spot, either by zooming in on your GPSr, if it does detail mapping, or by going to another mapping program, such as MS Streets and Trips, Google Maps, Terraserver.microsoft.net, etc. When you have found the landmark, write its name in the space provided and proceed to the next projected waypoint in the same manner, starting from the coordinates of the landmark you just identified, not the parking spot. Since the projections are all in series, if you mess one up, all the subsequent ones will be wrong, so be careful.

Proj# Bearing (mils) Distance (miles) New Coords Landmark Clue Words
1 5094 48.33 N_____________ W_____________ . .
2 1967 81.07 N_____________ W_____________ . .
3 5715 233.28 N_____________ W_____________ . .
4 806 89.00 N_____________ W_____________ . .
5 3141 213.16 N_____________ W_____________ . .
6 2313 49.30 N_____________ W_____________ . .

Once you’ve done all the projections and the spaces are all filled in, look at the list of clue words below and determine which one best fits with each landmark and write it in the space provided next to the landmark name. Note that each clue word has a number at the end. Reading down the "Clue Words" column in the table, take the numbers from the end of the words and put them in the "Final Projection" boxes in the table below, replacing the red question marks, in order to get the final bearing and distance to be projected to find the cache. The final projection is to be done from the PARKING COORDINATES. You should now have the location of the cache.

(Note: put one digit in each box in the above table, in the same order you took them from the first table.)

As a final hint, place the clue words into the acrostic table below. Write down the letters that land in the boxes with red circles, and unscramble them to get the clue.
