VTMP No. 57: Fishtrap Creek Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DocMagoo: Judging by the firecracker wrappings and the debris, it may have gone MIA during Halloween. The cache is gone and so is my desire to rehide it. Leaving the spot open for someone in Abby to hide a cache.

Geocache Description:

History of the Vancouver Transit Cache

Vancouver Transit (GC19D6) was a "travelling cache" and one of the most popular caches ever to hit the Lower Mainland. Once found, the cache finder would pick up the entire cache and re-hide it in a new location, somewhere in the Greater Vancouver area.

From September 2001 to August 2004, Vancouver Transit made over 150 different stops, each one lasting anywhere from a few hours to a few days before moving on to the next.

Vancouver Transit is no more, but Pharmadude thought it would be great to memorialize the stops it made along the way by placing permanent caches where the TRANSIenT ones once lay. Everyone is invited to join the Vancouver Transit Memorial Project (VTMP).

While an original guideline of the cache was to rehide it "somewhere in the Greater Vancouver area", every so often, the cache strayed outside of its original boundaries. It found it's way out to the FVRD on October 8, 2002, when canadazuuk placed it in Fishtrap Creek Park. It was found the very next day by Pharmadude, who sought to reign in the errant cache. The cache is a short distance away from where it was hidden back then and a bit closer to the main access trail to the area. Enjoy! Please note that Fishtrap Creek Park is open to the public one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset.
