Les Illes Medes és un arxipèlag de 7 illots: el Medellot, l’illa de la Meda
Gran, la Meda Petita, les Ferrenelles, el Tascó Gros, el
Tascó Petit i el Carall Bernat. Situats a una milla
del poble de l’Estartit, a la Costa Brava, a la
comarca del Baix
Empordà.
L’extraordinària biodiversitat de les aigües que les envolten son un
indret únic, preservat per una Reserva Natural des del
1.983. És un lloc molt freqüentat pels submarinistes. La seva
colònia de gavians de pota groga és de les més nombroses de la
Mediterrània.
A l’edat mitjana i fins a mitjans del s. XIX
van tenir una gran importància per la seva situació estratègica. Hi
ha vestigis grecs i romans i nombroses històries de naufragis i
pirates. A la Meda Gran hi ha un far construït el 1.866 que
va estar guardat fins el 1.934, actualment funciona amb energia
solar. El tresor hi és amagat ben a prop.
En l’aproximació del tram marí, l’autor
va emprar una canoa (a la platja de l’Estaritit a l’estiu se’n
hi poden llogar). Amb bona mar, és una agradable excursió
d’uns 20 minuts fins a la costa de la Meda Gran. El
millor punt d’amarra és al sud de l’illa.
El segon handicap a tenir en compte son les gavines,
que al ser-hi tan nombroses arriben a aclaparar
literalment.

Medes Islands are a group of 7 little islands. They are situated
one mille far from l’Estatirt, in the Costa
Brava, to Baix
Empordà.
The rare biodiversity of the water is preserve as
Natural Reservation size 1.983. It is ideal place to
practise the submarine diving.
The seagull of yellow leg colony is here the one
of the biggest colonies of the Mediterranean sea.
At the medieval age to middle the 19st century these islands hat a great important
because of it strategic situation. There are greek and roman ruins
and also lots of shipwrecks and pirate tales. There is a lighthouse
constructed at Meda
Gran (the great island) in 1.866
witch hat been kept until 1.934.
Nowadays it works by solar energy. The cache is nearby.
To reach the island the author used a canoe (they
are hired in summer at the l’Estartitbeach). If there is a calmed
sea It is a plea cent trip of 20 minutes
length to the Meda
Gran coast. The south of the
island is the best place to tie up.
Another handicap are
the seagulls witch are very very
present.
