Geocache Description:

XL...xtra-large? Xtra long? No, XL means 40 for this event, as in Super Bowl 40! That's right, a geocache event with a football theme to it. This event, geared towards families, will begin with temporary caches, which will be hidden throughout the City of Greenfield, one container for each team in the playoffs.

The event will begin at Greenfield City Hall at 2:30pm, where clues and coordinates will be given out. Information on GPS units and the geocaching hobby will also be available for those who are new to the hobby/sport, or just got started. Transportation is on your own.

Once done finding the temporary caches, come back to the Besson Community Room in City Hall for a meet and greet in time for the Super Bowl. Food and non-alcholic beverages will be provided. Kickoff of the game in Detroit is scheduled for between 5:00 and 5:30pm. Rolling Stones fans are welcome as the group is performing in the halftime show this year.

SUPER BOWL XL featuring the
Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks

  • Watch the game on a projection screen in a non-smoking environment
  • Door prizes will be placed in temporary caches and also given out during the game. A couple of contests will be included with the temporary caches, that will involve outcomes of the game to determine the winner for door prizes.
  • Dress as a real fanatic - come in your favorite NFL or college team apparel and accessories as part of the "Ultimate Fan Contest" at halftime (restrooms available to change)
  • Must be present during the game to count the event as a find. A couple of temorary caches will be available to find on the grounds during the game.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! As this event is being sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Dept., registration is required so an accurate head count can be done. Cost is $5 per person to help cover costs of the event. Click here to download the program registration form (opens as Adobe Acrobat PDF), complete it, and mail, drop off, or fax to the Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department before the event. Coordinates and clues will be given only to those who register. Be sure to include your geocaching handle on your registration form. Also, in your "will attend" log, indicate how many in your group are attending.

Your host for the event is Mike Seavert (a.k.a. whitnallgps), 2004 Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame finalist and the super Packer fan on the Battle of the Fans segments on WISN-TV Ch. 12's Sunday morning newscasts. Any questions, comments, compliments and complaints can be directed to him through this e-mail address: mikes AT greenfieldwi DOT us, or send a message through whitnallgps's profile. Do not use the e-mail address in the profile for this event. Looking forward to seeing you there on Super Bowl Sunday!
