Geocache Description:

Celebrate Earth day helping to clean up one of Pelham's newest conservation properties. April 22, 2006 9am - 2pm. RAIN OR SHINE :o)

The Land Stewardship Committee of Pelham would like to extend an invitation to all the Cachers in the area to do their part in keeping our caching grounds looking good! April 22nd we will be having a clean up day and we need your help.
Last year the town of Pelham purchased a parcel of land off of Hinds lane, near Gumpas pond. This is a beautiful piece of land that has wide-open trails and splendid views of wetlands and wildlife. Unfortunately this land gradually fell into a state of disrepair after the developer, who originally purchased this property, gave up his plans of making yet another housing development in the area. Many years of OHRV use with a disregard for nature and illegal trash dumping have taken away from the property's potential beauty. The Land Stewardship Committee in cooperation with the conservation committee have taken on the responsibility of cleaning up this parcel of land and spreading the word of its existence.
We hope to have at least one cache setup on this property, which the owner will not activate until the day of the event. Therefore in addition to the gratification of participating in a CITO event one lucky Cacher can add a FTF to their list of accomplishments!
The coordinates listed are for the head of the trail. We will start the cleaning at this location at approximately 9 am. We hope to see a bunch of you at this event, as we are a small group and could really use the help. Also this parcel of land is large enough to hold quite a few Caches and the more that we use it and spread the word about it the more we will attract nature conscious Cachers and hopefully scare off the irresponsible geomuggles that fouled up the trails in the first place!
So please meet us at the coordinates or further up the trail, just head uphill and west. Bring your GPS, gloves, trash bags, shovels, and wheelbarrows would be helpful. Hope to see you there. Thank you!
