With a GPS receiver and internet access, you are ready to explorec
and hunt for a "geocache". Learn the basics necessary to enjoy this
eco-sport including suggested equipment, GPS units, the website,
how to search for a cache and types of caches. Program will include
searching for temporary caches hidden on site. You will enjoy the
thrill of the hunt, but the real discovery is the countless
locations of natural beauty and historical interest you will find
that you never knew existed. Families are encouraged to
participate. Please dress for the weather. Workshop will include
both an indoors and outdoors portion. If you have a GPS unit,
please bring it (not required). Several GPS units will be available
for use at this workshop.

New to Geocaching? You must register with the Waukesha
Parks, Recreation and Forestry Dept to participate in this
workshop. Families are most welcome, please indicate all names on
the registration form so we know how many people to expect. Please
see the link above to the department webpage and Winter Activity
Guide (see page 21). $10 Residents of City of Waukesha (per family)
/ $15 Non-Residents (per family)
Experienced geocachers, your assistance is needed. After
an introductory power point presentation, we like to pair
participants with you to head out on the trail. We will be setting
up a series of temporary caches to demonstrate various hides and
containers. For your asssistance, you will be able to log these
temporary caches. If you are available, please post a note
below.
Both new and experienced geocachers are invited to bring a
picnic lunch to stay and also participate in the CITO
event.
