Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, one of the Milwaukee area's gems along the Lakefront. The Center has an extensive system of hiking trails covering various terrain from meadows to woodlands and down the bluff to the lakefront. Trail Information. Center trails are open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. year round except on Christmas and New Years Day.

Admission is free for Members. As of December, 2021, admission for nonmembers is $8 for Adults, $5 for Ages 3-17, and $5 for Active Duty & Veterans.

Cache is about 10 feet off of the trail. Since reaching it involves descending and climbing a number of stairs, I am upping the terrain level to 2.5. PLEASE BE CAREFUL ON THE STAIRS IN THE WINTER!

Given the number of DNFs, I also am upping the difficulty level to 2.0. I also have adjusted the coordinates to more closely reflect the cache location.

Please watch for muggles, and return the cache to its hiding place.

Edit 10/29/22:

The cache was missing, but I have replaced it with a Thermous container. Given how overgrown this area gets in the summer, I am adding the following directions:

From the stairs at the ravine, turn left to follow the Woodland Loop clockwise. When you get to the wooden bench near the given coords, continue following the trail WSW about 22 steps until you get to a log across the trail. From there, the cache is about 10 steps straight south into the woods. Spoiler picture provided.

Note on Adoption:

This is one of only four caches hidden in February, 2006, still in existence in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha Counties.

Uplifting dragon, the original owner, moved away from the area quite a while ago, but kept the cache alive in the hopes that someone would be willing to adopt this old cache. After finally finding this cache as well as its sister cache, Mystery Rock,, RobtH adopted both caches in December, 2021. RobtH is a big fan of the Schlitz Audubon Center, having been a member for at least 25 years.
