Now for the 10th edition of the cache (with a new final location
hint). Once again a magnetic nano cache cylinder with screw
top. The log is a tiny roll of paper inside it. The difficulty
level of the cache is high as there are many geo-muggles in the
vicinity. If you can, please visit this park very early in the
morning (6-7AM) to reduce contact with muggles.
Please note that the hint for the final location is changed with
this hide.
The local name of the park is "Lalbagh" which translated into
english means Red Garden. I am adding this at the top to ensure you
don't get confused looks from the taxis or the locals when you ask
for directions to this place.
The cache is not located at the coordinate listed here.
Old Info (kept for posterity): The 3rd edition of this "never
found" cache seems to be lost as well. g-o-cashers went to India to
tackle this problem of ever disappearing caches (degree of
difficulty should be set to 10!). Thanks to his effort, we are
reviving this cache as well. He has placed a nano-cache just 15ft
from the original location and so I am not changing the
calculations. There are additional hints for this hide in the hints
section. I hope someone logs a find for this before this gets lost!
Thanks a lot for your help, Scott
This cache is located in a park that is over 250 years old and
is open between 6AM and 7PM every day of the week. There is an
entrance fee of Rs.7 per head.
I have revived this cache (this is the 3rd version). The first
two caches were lost even before anyone found it. This is now a
multi-stage cache and the cache itself is little bigger. There is a
Canadian $2 coin for the FTF. It doesn’t have space for a
pen/pencil. So, please bring one along.
Bangalore was known as the "Garden City" well before the current
status as the silicon valley of India. With the growing population
of Indian cities, it is one of the cities that still have large
gardens/parks which are the lungs of this fast growing city. Having
lived in Bangalore for 23 years before migrating out, I still have
very fond memories of this city, the nicest people, the cleanest
Indian city, temperate climate, great food....the list goes on. I
have chosen the theme of Garden City and so all the caches in this
series will be located in the gardens/parks of Bangalore. This is
the first of the series with the literal english translation of the
name. I hid this in a place which has fairly good number of
geo-muggles. So, please be discreet while searching. I would
suggest reading the hint instead of overt searches.
You are welcome to add photos of excellent trees that abound
this park, a great way to celebrate the nearly 250 year history of
this park.
This is a puzzle cache where each of the 3 locations listed here
will provide a clue that help construct the location of the
physical cache.
Location-1: N 12º 56.958, E 77º 35.334 – Observe
the common looking formation and learn about it. Note the age and
divide by 10 million to arrive at “A”. Now proceed to
Location-2.
Location-2: N 12º 56.990, E 77º 35.186 – Count the
number of lions in the stamp. Call this “B”. You would
see them everywhere in India wherever commerce is involved. Go to
Location-3.
Location-3: N 12º 56.838, E 77º 35.112 – Enjoy the
view of the prominent geographical feature here. There are two
common names for this feature. Both have the same number of
alphabets/letters in the english name. Count the number of
alphabets/letters in the generic name of this feature. Call this
“C”.
Now the location of the cache is formed as follows:
N 12º 56.((A*B)+C+93), E 77º 35.(C*20)+B+76
23-Jul-2011: The new location (to prevent the cache from being
swept away) is about 15ft away from these calculated final
coordinates.
Now watch out for geo-muggles and find the cache and don't
forget to enjoy the flora of the park.
