Prepare to do some walking. Terrain is not difficult, there is one hill to climb; the rest is along the old abandoned railroad tracks and in the woods nearby. The trains don’t run here anymore so it’s a safe walk. Lots of folks go fishing along the river or ride ATV’s along the tracks.
Part One: “The Tree of Knowledge”. You must climb the mountain to visit the Tree at N43 59.868 W70 04.421 By the time you found it, you may be feeling a little peckish…so relax a moment, take a look at the hole tree and you’ll find a film canister containing the coordinates to your next stop….Please replace it in the same place and make sure it’s covered.
Part Two: “The Golden Spike”. This is actually an old rusty railroad spike that I found while looking to place the cache…I took it home, ground some smooth spots on it, painted it gold…and engraved the coordinates to the final destination on it. The spike is stored in a red plastic container that should be easy to spot. Copy the coordinates, and start tracking down “The Treasure”
Part Three: “The Treasure”. By now, you’ve walked a good couple miles and are ready to track me down and do a Snidely Whiplash on me (tie me to the tracks for those of you too young to remember Dudley Do-Right). But you found the cache, had a nice walk, saw some deer tracks and enjoyed the day. Use the disposable camera and take a photo of yourself for our gallery. At one end of the tracks is Railroad Café, at the other, an Ice Cream place called The Big Dipper…so you can take a break and relax before heading on to the next one.
