Geocache Description:

This is a 3-stage cache that ends in an ammo box filled with a lot of really nice swag. The first 2 stages might be a little more difficult to find, but the final stage is easy, and well worth the effort! The cache will involve some driving from cache to cache, so you might wanna "fill 'er up" on the way to stage 1. :-) (Total driving distance will be about 8 miles)

Please remember the magic words: Trade EQUAL, Trade UP, or Please don't trade at all! Please, no army men, McDonald's toys, stickers or the like. We started this cache with the idea of having it stay full of things people are excited to trade...

Also, the final stage is on our property (about 250 feet from our home) - so, if you see one of us outside, please feel free to say Hello!! We LOVE to meet fellow cachers!

The "Beacon" which will be CLEARLY visible during the final stage of this cache is actually a very important navigational beacon for the large ships moving down the St. Louis River. It's the large, white "tube" about 35 feet tall which, when lined up with the concrete buoy in the river, centers a ship in the canal. In today's modern era of navigation, the GPS units on these ships have overtaken much of the "heavy lifting" these navigational aids provided in the past. However, the Army Corps of Engineers maintains them as a very important backup to the ships electronics. Many people don't even notice this beacon as they drive by it... but, after you do this multi, you'll never be able to look at it the same again!

If, by chance, a neighbor or a law enforcement officer questions you on the final stage of this cache, please feel free to tell them that the property owners, Glen and Sandy Bayless, have allowed access for the purpose of geocaching. Then, when they ask what geocaching is... well... that's your chance to get a new cacher started in the sport! By the way, if the gate to the community is closed, the final is placed where it's easily accessible from the main road
