Geocache Description:

Cache is a camo match container.

This cache is one of a series called "The trail of the serpent" based loosely on a book of the same title written in 1973 by Robert E. Gard and Elaine Reetz. All of these caches will be located along the Fox river from it's source south of Kingston to the mouth of the Fox River in Green Bay. As the infant Fox runs northeast from the Portage, it glides and twists through fertile meadows, broadens into small lakes until it finds itself in the broad sweep of Lake Winnebago. Lake Winnebago acts as the dam for the lower Fox which continues on to Green Bay in a wide flood, tumbling over chutes now made into dams, becoming one big scene of power development for the growth of its towns. "For us," said a famous Indian, "This river was a path. For our white brethren, to whom we sold it, it is a power." Loise Phelps Kellogg Doty island is surrounded by two different channels of the Fox river. The Neenah/Menasha border runs right through the center of the island. This is where Governor Doty ran the territory from. There are many beautiful old homes in this area, take a tour if you have never been here before.
