How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This cache is dedicated to the historic boats of Geneva Lake. WP1 is virtual and WP2 is a non-traditional micro. The final is a micro containing a logsheet only, so BYO pencil.
You may find non-metered (i.e. free) parking a couple of blocks north of Main Street near Central-Denison School. If you park at a meter, be sure to feed it or you could get a pricey parking ticket. Meters may have "2 hours free" stickers in the winter, so check before putting money in.
At the listed coordinates, you will find the year the city of Lake Geneva was incorporated. Add this 4-digit number to 3596 and insert the result into 42 3X.XXX to get the latitude of the final.
Next, proceed to WP2 and find a non-traditional micro containing some information about the oldest boat on the lake, built in 1898. (In the warmer months, you might see the boat itself tied to the Rivera Dock, just a short walk away. You might also find the needed info. on a sign which is next to the boat from May-October.) In all that time, the boat has had 3 names. You need the year it received its current name. Add this 4-digit number to 4607, insert the result into 088 2Y.YYY and you'll have the longtitude of the final. As you walk the relatively short distance to the final, you'll enjoy a view of this beautiful lake. (Winter note: Although the final should be findable in winter, snow could add to the challenge. The WP's should be winter-friendly.)
