Geocache Description:

It’s time for a competition which will test your mapping, caching and, yes, even your mental prowess.

Here we are, 2 years after the first RDD, and still the stories are told about it! So... OFF WE GO AGAIN!!! The competition takes place on June 17, 2006, and starts at the parking lot by the PEI Tourism Information center in Borden just off the bridge... We will meet at the large chunk of the bridge which is on display. (the posted cords might be slightly off but everyone knows where it is). All teams will meet up at 9:30AM. We start off at 10AM and go our separate ways for the day, and then meet in the evening at a designated campground.

The Premise of the Competition: We start at the port, we meet at the camp, whoever gets the most caches on the Island (on this trip only) wins... meaning if you have already gotten a few of the caches on the island, you'd better hope others can't do the Island in a day ;-)

As last time, to identify each other on the road, I will hand out little ties to attach to your antennas for each cache you complete.

The end of the competition will be at 7PM when we will be meeting at the campground called “Holiday Haven” at cords N46 12.769 W063 11.228 (http://www.holidayhaven.pe.ca/) This is just outside of Cornwall, South-West of Charlottetown PEI. Last event we had a great time there with the fire and everything and we're hoping for another great turnout this year... to facilitate the local cachers, I openly ... again... invite the local PEI cachers to join us for the BBQ and nightly merriment. When to come? Anytime after 7 and there will be cachers about the campground.... so go with that in mind.

Please that FOR EVERY 5 MIN YOU ARE LATE YOU SUBTRACT ONE CACHE FROM YOUR TOTAL

I will be reserving a block of standard 2-way hookup spots for that location. They will be available on a first come/first serve basis. When you arrive at the campground, you can pay the people there for your reserved spot. If you do not get one of the reserved spots, you will need to contact the campground or make other arrangements. I’ve already make pre-reservations so they expect my call back, but I am making the final reservations around the 20th of May. If you want a reserved spot, leave a note on the page and for how many people on your campsite.

If you have an RV or camper, I would ask you contact the campground and reserve a spot. The phone number is on their website (above), mention that you are with the geocachers and that because you have an RV you needed to reserve that way.

That night, we’ll have the official Meet and Greet BYOBBQ&B cookout to talk about the adventures that day and so forth, and hopefully bring out the local PEI cachers… In the morning, we can all head out someplace for greasy breakfast or pool our resources and pot-luck it -- we can decide that morning.

Because of the KM's to cover, car pooling may be a good idea for some. At current press time (May 4th, 2006) there are 57 caches on the Island, and it's VERY unlikely someone can get them all in one day with our time constraints. However, odder things have happened. Don't forget to save $40 for the bridge to come back to NB! (No charge to go there, they only charge you if you want to leave).

There will be prizes for as many posistions as we have donated prizes... Tiebreaker rules: In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the following criteria

1. Getting the 2 furthest caches on the Island from each other.
2. Whoever can produce a larger collection of empty Tims cups fresh from the trip.
3. In the unlikely event of a tie at this stage, the competitors still tied will fight a grueling match of best of 3 rock - paper - sissors

I’ll see you all Dashing across the Red Dirt!
