Geocache Description:

"Klaatu barada nikto!" Those were the last words heard as Klaatu and Gort sped away in their bullet riddled ship over the verdant slopes of Southern Fort Ord some 50 years ago.

Please do not attempt to drive your car on  BLM or Presidio Land.  You risk a sizeable fine and/or the impoundment of your vehicle.  Biking, hiking, or horseback are your best options.

The poor hapless Klaatu.  A brilliant diplomat, but a poor navigator.   Who knows, perhaps he meant to take in a few rounds of golf at Pebble Beach before the grueling work of saving Earth.

Unfortunately, Klaatu chose an area of Fort Ord where troops were training with live ammo.   After all, who could blame the troops, no doubt shaking with uncontrollable terror at the sight of the ship, if they emptied several hundred rounds of ammunition into the hull of the ship.  Klaatu, no doubt shaken from the reception, did have the presence of mind to jettison a damaged portion of his ship, which here now lies at the above coordinates as a monument to Peace and the fateful days that followed in Washington D.C.

The rest, as they say, is History.

****Congratulations to el Jim on the FTF!****
