Geocache Description:

Following the Battle of Worcester in 1651, King Charles II took refuge from his pursuers in an oak tree. Later in his reign, mindful of the part played by the Army in his restoration to the Throne, His Majesty implemented his idea for the foundation of a home, or hospice, for his old soldiers. On 7th December 1681, he issued a Royal Warrant for the foundation of a hospital “for the relief of such Land Soldiers as are, or shall be old, lame or infirme in the Service of the Crowne”. The Royal Hospital (Chelsea) was completed and the first in-Pensioners entered in 1692.
During the annual Founder’s Day parades, the in-Pensioners and all visitors are asked to wear oak leaves in memory and even the statues are bedecked.

In 2006, Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip reviewed the Chelsea In-Pensioners during which they marched past the recently re-gilded statue of Charles II.

Could this tree be the same age?
