Canadian Eh? Tribute to Half-Can & Scooter Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

TWST: I was at the cache site about a month and a half ago and replaced the container then. Went to check on it a week later and it was gone. Replaced it again and the same thing happened. Seems this game has gone to the muggles with Iphones. This was my favourite cache by far, placed in honour of Half-Canadian and Scooter the Wonder Dog. It saddens me to have to archive it, but perhaps someone else will place a new cache near this location and make it a success again. Thanks for all of the great caches "1/2-Can".

Geocache Description:

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO APPROACH THIS CACHE FROM THE U.S. SIDE! An easy cache for all ages and a great view from the marker. The parking lot for this cache is accessed by taking the road right behind the Duty Free Shop .

We recently hid a geocache in White Rock as a tribute to Pharmadude and we wanted to do the same for Half-Canadian & Scooter the Wonder Dog.

"Half-Can" has a phenomenal caching record for finds and hides within Canada and the US and we have enjoyed finding many of those caches hidden in the lower mainland area. We've not ventured over the US border to find the many Half-Can geocaches hidden there, but we sure hope to at some point. Our all time favourite Half-Can caches are "We All Gotta Croak Sometime" and "Filler Up", as both are exceptionally creative.

As we prepared to celebrate Canada Day, as well as Independence Day in the summer of 2006, I got to thinking how cool it is that regardless of where the Canadian and US political relations are at, geocaching brings Canadians and Americans (and citizens from over 200 different countries) together. Geocaching is fun no matter where you live and hiding a geocache gives you the opportunity to offer complete strangers the chance to explore some of the hidden gems in your neighbourhood. I can't even begin to imagine how many people from around the world have been drawn to Half-Can's neighbourhood (in the US & Canada) to find one, or many, hidden gems. How cool is that?

So, I just wanted to say "Thanks, Half-Can."

Now, on to the cache.....

Once you reach the coordinates posted above, look for an obvious marker. From there, go 20 feet down the trail and you'll find the cache nestled near "Doug" (I know it's not a Douglas Fir, but they're all "Dougs" to me!).

Please rehide the cache carefully as there are always muggles in the area.

Original contents have a truly Canadian theme and in order to keep this a theme cache, practical trade items would be patriotic pins or keychains from your home country.
