Finlaysonin kirkko:
Finlaysonin kirkko on Tampereella Finlaysonin tehdasalueella sijaitseva uusgoottilaista tyyliä edustava entinen Finlaysonin puuvillatehtaan kirkko, joka on rakennettu vuonna 1879. Kirkkoa käytettiin ennen tehtaan työntekijöiden hartaustilana. Nykyisin se kuuluu Tampereen evankelis-luterilaiselle seurakunnalle toimien lasten tiekirkkona ja suosittuna vihkikirkkona.
Finlaysonin tehtaan työntekijöiden käyttöön rakennettu kirkko valmistui vuonna 1879. Kirkko rakennettiin ensisijaisesti hartaustilaksi, mutta siellä myös aloitettiin vuoden ensimmäinen työpäivä jumalanpalveluksella aina 1970-luvulle asti. Finlaysonin tehtaan työntekijät muodostivat oman seurakuntansa vuosina 1846 - 1860. Tehtaalla oli oma pappi, tehtaansaarnaja aina vuoteen 1982 asti. Tehdas luovutti kirkon vastikkeetta tontteineen Tampereen evankelis-luterilaiselle seurakunnalle vuonna 1981. Luovutuksen ehtona oli, että kirkkoa tulee jatkossakin kutsua Finlaysonin kirkoksi.
Kirkon suunnittelusta vastasi Tampereen silloinen kaupunginarkkitehti F. L. Calonius. Kirkon julkisivun materiaalina on peittämätön punatiili. Se muistuttaa englantilaista kongregationaalikirkkoa siten, että kirkon saarnatuoli ja urut sijaitsevat tavanomaisesta poiketen alttarin takana. Kirkossa ei ole myöskään minkäänlaista alttaritaulua tai -veistosta. Aluksi kirkossa oli yhtenäiset penkkirivistöt, jotka erotettiin keskikäytävällä vasta myöhemmin. Kirkon urut on rakentanut urkurakentamo Hill & Son 1850-luvulla, ja Finlaysonin kirkkoon ne hankittiin Pietarista 1879. Kirkkoa korjattiin syyskuusta 2007 loppukesään 2008. Lautalattia korvattiin laattalattialla. Samalla kirkon väritystä tummennettiin aiempaan verrattuna.
Nykyisin kirkon omistaa Tampereen evankelis-luterilainen seurakuntayhtymä. Kirkossa on istumapaikat 280 henkilölle.
Tallipiha:
Finlaysonin puuvillatehtaan omistaja Wilhelm von Nottbeck (1816 – 1890) rakennutti Tallipihan hänen hevosilleen ja väelle, joka piti niistä huolta, lähelle hänen kotipalatsiaan. Tallipiha rakennettiin vuosien 1839 ja 1890 välillä. Siellä sijaitsivat von Nottbeckin vaunu- ja ratsuhevosten talli, vaunuvaja, tallimestarin ja tallimiehen talot sekä Kuninkaankadun puolella vahdin ja kuskin talot. Tallipiha oli nupukivillä päällystetty ja rakennukset maalattuina voimakkain värein, jotka korostivat puuleikkauksien muotoja.
Nykyisten Tallipihan rakennusten lisäksi paikalla on sijainnut myös iso kanala. Muistitiedon mukaan palatsin asukkaiden tarpeita varten pidettiin muutamaa lehmää, ja todennäköisesti niidenkin karjasuoja on sijainnut Tallipihassa. Nottbeckien ajan jälkeen 1900-luvulla alueella asui Finlaysonin henkilökuntaa ja tallissa oli tehtaan työhevosia. Vuonna 1995 Tampereen kaupunki aloitti kunnostushankkeen tehdäkseen alueesta koko perheen retkikohteen. Vanha julkisivu, sisätilat ja rakenteet entisöitiin vastaamaan alkuperäistä 1880-luvun ulkoasua. Kunnostushankkeen tarkoitus oli kunnioittaa perinteikästä tunnelmaa, joka Tallipihalla aikoinaan vallitsi.
Nykyisin historiallinen Tallipiha on ympäri vuoden avoinna oleva ilmainen retkikohde. Tallipihalla on nähtävää ja koettavaa ympäri vuoden koko perheelle. Pikkuputiikkien monipuolinen valikoima käsitöitä, sisustustuotteita, koruja ja suussa sulavia suklaita houkuttelee kiertämään talosta toiseen. Joulunaikaan Tallipiha muuttuu lumoavaksi Joulukyläksi mielenkiintoisine tapahtumineen ja seimiasetelmineen. Kesäaikaan tapahtumien yhteydessä voit matkata ajassa taaksepäin Tallipihan Vossikan kyydillä historiallisessa ympäristössä.
Muista varoa jästejä! Niitä liikkuu kätköpaikan lähellä varsinkin päiväsaikaan runsaasti. Myös GPS-kuuluvuus alueella on vaihtelevaa, joten tarvittaessa kannattaa turvautua vihjeeseen.

The Finlayson Church:
The Finlayson Church is a church representing the Gothic Revival Architecture located in Tampere, Finland, in the Finlayson industrial area. It was built in 1879 as the church of the Finlayson cotton factory. The church was used as a place where the factory workers could practice religion. Currently the church belongs to the Evangelist-Lutheran congregations of Tampere, and it is used as a children's road church and a popular church for weddings.
The church was built for the use of the Finlayson factory workers in 1879. It was built primarily as a place to practice religion, but the first working day of the year was started with a service there right until the 1970s. The Finlayson factory workers founded their own congregation from 1846 to 1860. The factory had its own priest, a factory preacher right until 1982. The factory gave the church away and the lot it stands on for free to the Evangelist-Lutheran congregation in Tampere in 1981. A condition for the transfer was that the church must continue to be called the Finlayson Church.
The church was designed by the city architect of Tampere at the time, Frans Ludvig Calonius. The material for the church's facade is clean red brick. It resembles an English congregationalist church in that the preaching chair and the organ are unusually located behind the altar. The church also has no kind of altar table or sculpture whatsoever. The church used to have benches stretching the full width of its hallway, but these were later separated into two parts by a corridor in the middle. The church's organ was built by the company William Hill & Son in the 1850, and they were brought to the church from St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1879. The church was repaired from September 2007 to late summer 2008. The plank floor was replaced with a plate floor. The church's colour was also changed to a darker shade.
The church is currently owned by the Evangelist-Lutheran congregation of Tampere. The church seats 280 people.
Stable yards:
Finlayson’s cotton factory owner Wilhelm von Nottbeck (1816 - 1890) had the Stable Yards built near his home palace, for his horses and for the staff to take care of the horses. The Stable Yards were built between 1839 and 1890. They consisted of a stable, carriage shed, stable master’s house, a stable man’s house and a watchman’s and a driver’s house. The buildings were painted with bright colours that highlighted the beautiful wood carvings of the houses; the yard was paved with cobblestones. The decorative wood carvings of the facades resemble the late 19th century’s international building styles that were influenced by folk architecture.
Besides the present buildings, there has been a large chicken coop in the area. Also a few cows were kept in the area, and probably their barn was located in the Stable Yards. After the Nottbeck’s era, the houses were occupied by Finlayson’s factory workers. The factory’s horses were kept in the stable. In 1995 the city of Tampere started a restoration project in order to turn the area into a sight for the whole family. The old facades, interiors and structures were restored as close to their original 1880´s appearance. During the restoration process the aim was to honour the traditional atmosphere that once dominated the way of life in the Stable Yards.
Today, the historic Tallipiha, Stable Yards, is a free-of-charge sight that is open all year round. With a fascinating café, chocolate and Finnish handcraft shops, it is a place that has many interesting things to offer for the whole family. There are many events throughout the year. Inside the little shops and artisans’ workshops you can find beautiful handmade souvenirs, unique Finnish designs, decoration products, and delicious chocolates. During the Christmas period the yard is transformed into a fascinating Christmas Village, with interesting events and a nativity scene with real animals. During the summer and during events, a traditional old-time horse and carriage waits for you to take a ride and explore the historical Finlayson area.
The cache is located in a busy place so stealth action is required. Also the GPS-reception is erratic in the area so read the hint if necessary.
