Whatever it is, it’s small! So small that there is no pencil or log
book. Inside however, is a paper with a one-word description of
something you will see here. Drop us an email, or a “nano-gram” if
you will, with the word when you claim your find.
There is no need to leave terra firma or do any climbing of any
sort to grab this cache. It is perfectly acceptable however to
descend the ladder and take in the workings of the dam from the
steel catwalk and the cribwork piers. Exercise caution however, and
keep a close eye on children in the area. Dogs MUST be on a leash
and you must clean up after them. Take some time to walk around and
enjoy this unique and historical location.
Upper Dam is a beautiful site located between
Mooselookmeguntic and Upper Richardson Lakes. An access road leaves
the S.E. side of Rt.16 at approximately N44*55.741 W070*54.580. You
WILL NOT get locked in by the gate near the highway, but you will
encounter a locked gate before reaching the dam. The remaining walk
is a pleasant one of less than a mile. Upper dam can also be
accessed via water from either lake.
