In the Middle Ages, coal was mined only superficially, because of the loamy soil and missing knowledge about digging deep into the rock. So there were many entrances to mining tunnels, which can still be visited.
Later, when people had the technology and the knowledge, they started to dig vertical shafts in order to reach deeper areas of coal.
So the Muttental became one of the important coal-mining areas in the region until 1972 the last tunnel was closed.
Today, visitors can learn much about the technologies and the history of coal-mining by walking along the "Bergbauwanderweg Muttental", which leads all over the place or by visiting the "Westphalian Industrial Museum: Zeche Nachtigall" which can be combined with guided tour through the former tunnel "Nachtigall"!

In order to log this cache you have to find some information about the area and email it to me! You will recieve the log-permission! After that, you should take a picture of yourself in the Muttental and upload it together with your log! Logs without a picture will be deleted!
1.) In which year is the first mining activity in the Muttental mentioned?
2.) At the "visitor's tunnel Nachtigall" there is also a seam! What's the name of it? The number is also needed!
3.) The is a mine named after a famous star constellation (it is not a planet or a sky-object) in the Muttental. What's its name and when was it closed?
4.) What is the name of the dwarf, which lived in "Ruine Hardenstein" and still haunts the area around it? The longer name counts!
5.) Line up your answers and send them to @quantentunnel.de (eg. 1981Ballermann6Bananencremetorte1492Klausudo@quantentunnel.de). If your answers are correct, you will recieve an email with the log-permission! If you do not receive a mailer-demon, my email-provider declared your mail as spam, but it was the correct answer, so go ahead and log the cache!
6.) Take a picture from yourself at one of the old tunnels, some other mining-relicts in the Muttental or e.g the old ruin Hardenstein and upload it with your log. See the example picture!
This cache can be combined with the mystery cache GCT105: "Schwarzes Gold" and the fantastic multi-caches GCJQWT: "Gimrings Schatz" and GCJRQ8: "Haradrins Schatz".

Im Mittelalter wurde die Kohle wegen des lehmhaltigen Boden und der fehlenden Technologie nur oberflächlich abgebaut. So entstanden viele horizontale Stollen, deren Eingänge auch heute noch besichtigt werden können.
Erst später, als die Menschen dort über die Mittel und das technische Wissen verfügten, wurden vertikale Schächte gegraben, um die tiefer liegenden Flöze zu erschließen.
Das Muttental wurde so ein wichtiger Kohle-Versorger für die sich im Umkreis immer mehr ansiedelnden Industrien, bis 1972 der Abbau zu teuer wurde und der letzte Schacht geschlossen wurde.
Besucher des Muttentales erwartet heute ein sehr schönes Waldgebiet und der "Bergbauwanderweg Muttental", der mit vielen Informationstafeln an den alten Zecheneingängen vorbeiführt. Ein Abstecher zum "Westfälischen Industriemuseum: Zeche Nachtigall" und dem Besucherstollen "Nachtigall" ist ebenso lohnenswert, wie ein Besuch der alten Ruine "Hardenstein".

Um diesen Earth-Cache zu loggen müsst Ihr 2 Aufgaben erfüllen. Zum einen sollt ihr ein paar Informationen über das Muttental herausfinden, diese mir per eMail schicken. Ihr erhaltet dann die Logfreigabe. Anschließend sollt ihr noch ein Foto von Euch im Muttental schießen! Logs ohne Foto werden gelöscht!
1.) In welchem Jahr wurde die Kohlegewinnung im Muttental zum ersten mal urkundlich erwähnt? (Eindeutig lösbar!)
2.) Am Besucherstollen "Nachtigall" gibt es einen Steinbruch mit einem von aussen sichtbaren Flöz! Wie heißt er? Die Nummer gehört dazu das Wort "Flöz" NICHT!
3.) Eine Zeche im Muttental ist nach einem berühmten Sternbild (nicht Planet oder Himmelskörper! Ihr habt doch hoffentlich alle beim Caching Under The Stars"-Event aufgepasst, oder?) benannt! Wie heißt sie und in welchem Jahr wurde sie geschlossen?
4.) Wie heißt der Zwerg, der auf "Haus Hardenstein" gelebt hat und der Legende nach Schuld für den Verfall des Hauses sein soll? Es wird der längere Name gesucht!
5.) Reiht die Antworten hintereinander und schickt sie an @quantentunnel.de (also z.B. 1981Ballermann6Bananencremetorte1492Klausudo@quantentunnel.de)! Wenn ihr die richtigen Antworten gegeben habt, erhaltet ihrt eine eMail mit der Logfreigabe! Wenn ihr keine Antwort und KEINEN Mailer-Demon erhaltet ist eure Mail im Spam gelandet und ihr könnt trotzdem loggen. Habe versucht das Problem zu lösen und hoffe das es nun nicht mehr passieren sollte.
6.) Macht ein Foto von Euch oder einem Team-Mitglied vor einem der alten Tunnel, einem anderen Bergbau-"Relikt" im Muttental oder z.B. an der Ruine Hardenstein und hängt es Eurem Log an! Hier ein Beispielfoto!
Dieser Earth-Cache kann hervorragend mit dem Mystery.-Cache GCT105: "Schwarzes Gold" und den berühmten Multis GCJQWT: "Gimrings Schatz" und GCJRQ8: "Haradrins Schatz" kombiniert werden.
