Found it 11/17/2009 AirborneSurveyor found AD9256 (NGS Benchmark)   [visit log]
Found this on a +3k road trip after I got back from Afghanistan on the 4th of November. So far hit 3 caches in CO (Pikes Peak), 3 caches in UT, 3 caches in NV (Las Vegas), 7 in AZ (here, Grand Canyon, Petrified Fores)t. Hit 2 today in NM. This will mark off 5 states that I have not cache in on my way back home to Louisiana. Everyone knows the most direct route to LA from Fort Riley, KS is CO, UT, NV, AZ, NM, OK, and TX... right?

Found it 8/13/2008 Narniaexpert found AD9256 (NGS Benchmark)   [visit log]
Interesting location. I could not believe that they would charge for people to go here. This is basically a tourist trap where you pay to get in and then there are indians trying to sell you stuff 360 degrees around you. I brought a few travel bugs with me so that they can log four states at once. The thing that I did not like about this Indian reservation is that they view them selves at "The Navajo Nation". There is no such thing as a Navajo Nation. They are part of the United States of America not their own nation. I think that this is not right. I am not trying to sound racial against them, but If they are going to live in America they should call them selves Americans. The other thing that I saw was that they had a US Flag covered over with an Indian carying a gun. TFTvC.

Found this mark today in excellent condition. Coords are right on. Can't miss this one. I would like to note that there is a reference mark pointing right @ this mark about 50 feet northwest of the mark in the middle of the gravel road. Is it possible the original disk was part of a triangulation station ? The name on the mark was not legible so it is hard to know for sure. I will post pictures soon.

Found it 11/8/2003 tspar1 found AD9256 (NGS Benchmark)   [visit log]
I first visited this site in 1957. There was no one around, no cars, no indians, no curio and crafts stands and no monument. It was just a cement post about 1 foot square and about 12 tall with a standard benchmark disc in the top. Ah the good old days.

My year is off by one (I should have 1996 but the menu doesn't want to let me log this). I went (10,000+ miles) cross-country with my dad for 3 week back in 1996. This was one of the places that I really hoped to visit as long as we were "in the vicinity."
