Got it!

I had a much easier time than Thot did a year ago, since some upgrades have taken place at GZ and the benchmark has been uncovered and preserved in a steel pipe. Easy peasy!

It was definitely not covered up by the widening of NASA 1. I found the exact location from the description. It's beside Hooters. I'm going to have to start taking a spade with me. I think I could have uncovered it with a little digging. Pictures attached.

I couldn't find this one. I think the NASA Road 1 expansion that happened several years ago covered this one up.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
