My first benchmark. After several attempts to log a benchmark, this one I finally found. I had to wait many hours before I could take a train, the station was closed, so I had to do something. After my visit in the libary, I saw there was/is a benchmark here in Little Rock on a location that was easy accesible. Finally I know what a benchmark is, and finally I've got a new logo in the list.

Found this mark @ the given coordinates. However the described mark was monumented 1975, not 2004. I also could not find the Little Rock A Station which is shown to be close by. It should have stuck out like a sore thumb. I did find the Little Rock RM. See separate log for that description. I made no attempt to find Ref Pt-A, B, or C due to being on Capitol grounds. I did however find a painted dot on the sidewalk just north of Little Rock RM. The painted dot was labeled BM with the elevation. See pictures below. I am not labeling this as a find at this time as I did not find the 1975 main station.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1999.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
