Coordinates correspond to a southern peak of a double peak. A register has been chained to a rock at this point, but there is no sign of any benchmark. No reliable boulder is on this peak, so the last remaining benchmark which was reported to not be on a solid rock back in 1970, has probably also been destroyed. I didn't check out the 2nd peak, but the coordinates would have to be off by 200 yards in that situation. And, since the initial benchmark for So. Calif. is less than a mile away, this is unlikely. Incidentally, the initial point was set in 1852 by Colonel Washington, and determines property lines for 11,000,000 parcels in the southwest. The reason it's not in this database is that it is just a couple of dead tree trunks propped up with a lot of rocks. However, a plaque commemorting it's sesquicentenial was placed nearby on August 2, 2003. Apparently, this country has only 37 initial survey points, but this one, at about 10,240' is the highest and most difficult to get to. [last edit: 8/9/2003 9:31:15 AM PST]
