Both entries from 2005 still very accurate, there is nothing more to add other than a waypoint and GPS photo.

This is only the GPS reception taken at the location. The other photos already posted show the BM itself.

First time "hunting" benchmarks. Have seen them in the wild prior to Caching days. This walk around Troy was interesting, being able to see many landmarks and all benchmarks found are in great shape. Cool breeze

This building is now OldBrick furniture. The wall that the mark is on has been throgh a few repairs and a bad case of paint. The brick holding the letter "B" has been replaced. This is a quickly recovering part of Troy, and this building could survive for a few more years.
This is one of the more interesting Benchmarks I've found. New York Central Freight is long gone.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
