The marker had Elevation stamped on it but whoever placed it didn't add the elevation or it was so lightly marked it has worn off.

This isn't the first benchmark I've found just the first I've logged. Since it had no logs since 1904 this was the oldest unfound benchmark in the area and I congradulate Dan for getting here first. Took a few pictures for the log.

Found in very good shape. A brass dic. with No number, but with Grants Pass Peak on it and no date. Also there is a County Surveyor brass dic. about 25 feet away mark Grants Pass Peak #2, 1973. I travel up Savage creek road to road #37 5 12 (second road on right after dirt road starts) The road died ends at .33 mile from the peak. If you walk off the end of the road you find an very old foot trail, not in very good shape but us able. At .2 mile the trail goes away and skid trail will lead to the to. There maybe another short way, my reason for thinking this is, once on top of ridge there is a old road leading away from peak. I will check out at later date. DrDan52000

Control Text
- The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1991.
- The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
- The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
- The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
