DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1930 (JHP) KGU EAST RADIO TOWER, STEEL SKELETON, HEIGHT 200 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL. NEON LIGHTED RED BETWEEN 6 P.M. AND MIDNIGHT FROM HEIGHT OF 50 FEET TO 200 FEET. THIS TOWER IS VERY DISTINCTIVE AT NIGHT. IT IS LIGHTED TO A HEIGHT OF 7 FEET ABOVE THE HARBOR LIGHT, AND HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OFFICERS OF THE PIONEER AS BEING VISIBLE AT THE SAME DISTANCE AS THE HARBOR LIGHT FROM A SOUTHWARD POSITION.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1964 (DGR) STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. LOCATED IN HONOLULU AT INTERSECTION OF KAPIOLANI BLVD. AND SOUTH STREET, ON ROOF OF STAR BULLETIN BUILDING. STATION IS A 4-LEGGED, TAPERING, SKELETON STEEL STRUCTURE, PAINTED ALTERNATE RED AND WHITE. TOP OF TOWER IS 200 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in December 1998. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
