My first GPS. All reference material is in PDF form on the DeLorme website. If you want instructions to carry around, you should plan on printing them out. The learning curve on the software is a bit daunting. The instruction manual for that is over 200 pages. The GPS itself is fairly intuitive. I had no problems setting it up and loading the software maps for NY and ME, the two states I'm interested in now. I am a newbie to geocaching, but I've had no problems using the Earthmate PN-60. I was concerned about the battery life after reading reviews on Amazon, but I'm using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries and after many hours of use, the batteries read at 85%. The one concern I do have with the device is the USB hookup. The "plug" that fits into the GPS has to be lined up precisely or it won't slide in properly. The fit is very tight and I'm concerned there may be premature wear at the connection site. Only time will tell. So far, I'm happy with my purchase.
