This is my first hand held GPS device, and I have not had much of a chance to use it so far. I've read a lot of reviews on the PN-40 and PN-60 and have gone through the DeLorme web site and excellent user manual. So far, at this point, I would agree with other raters that the product (and the company) are outstanding. Once I have more experience with it, I'll be in a better position to comment further. The unit was easy to set up using a Windows Vista computer and the DeLorme software. The operation of the unit was easy using the User Manual. I'll get the Cache Register Widget so I can use my iMac to coordinate paperless geocaching. Hope this helps, Dave

So far I'm extremely happy with the PN-60. I haven't had a chance to go caching with it yet, but everything else about it is extremely user friendly and it's quick to pick up the signal. (It's also compatible with GSAK... just set your GSAK to send to a PN-40 and it will work just fine!)

Very good GPS accuracy. PC software can be a little confusing when syncing data.

My first hand-held GPS, but I think my rating is valid. Battery life varies, but I have been getting over 5 hours in power-saving mode while recording tracks. I have found the tracking to be very accurate, replaying tracks in Google Earth was spot on to the route I took matching the foot paths. The only times there was an issue was inside a deep valley between two rock walls, in that case it had me off track a few yards. The screen is very readable in direct sunlight. Sometimes I find it easier to read in direct sunlight. The menus are easy to navigate, although this being my first GPS it took me a few hours to decipher some of the features. Easlily d/l GPX files to geotag photos. And have geocached twice now, the interface for that very was handy. Down side? It can take a few minutes, if you turn the unit on a few hundred miles from it's last location, to acquire sat signal. And it also like to have the compass calibrated then. Although no real complaints after 1 month.
