Now that I have received my SPOT device and used it for a few days, I can write a proper evaluation. The PN-60w SE, by itself, is a great GPS. 100% for Geo-Cachers, 95% for driving across town or the country. The alert beep is about 200% louder than the PN-40’s which was one of my only complaints about our 40. I drive a jeep with MT tires. Anything over 35, and you would not hear the alert tone on the 40. The 60’s tone is very ample and easy to hear. The ONLY problem I have with the PN-60 is, (also a problem with the 40 using Topo 8.0), it that it likes to route me down dirt roads that have been closed off by BLM and are now nothing more than GAME TRAILS. The spot device has worked flawlessly since I received it several days ago. It does have a sharp learning curve but if you read the manuals, everything will be revealed to you. The PN-60 had a few things that changed from the 40, but READ THE MANUAL!!!! Five out of Five. GREAT paperless Geo-caching GPS!!!

Just received SPOT the 3rd week of Sept 2010. Will update the rating after I try it out.

Received mine yesterday - still sorting out some of the new features that my PN-40 lacked. Will edit review as I gain more experience. Agree with others - a larger screen would be nice to have (but is not absolutely necessary) when using hi-res and topo map imagery.
