I started geocaching using the earthmate USB GPS in combination with a notebook laptop running DeLorme's street atlas program because that is what I had. Granted, it's a somewhat cumbersome combination, but it seems to be accurate and works well although once you get close to the cache interpreting the screen is difficult. It provides large maps with the cache marked on the map. My current location is also marked and plotted on the map leaving a 'Breadcrumb trail' so that I can see where I've been. One nice feature is I can visually 'Tag' (or plot) as many caches as I want on the map for when I'm out hunting multiple caches. Each is labeled with the GPS location or the cache name for easy identification. I can't argue with success! After finding over 100 caches this way I purchased a Magellan Explorer GC. Both devices have their merits. I now use the Earthmate to get me to the cache site, because it's great to use while driving, and then the handheld Magellan to locate the exact cache
