Great for starting off caching, for the low price, but typing in all those co-ordinates gets very dull and boring. For new cachers, I would recommend the GARMIN ETREX 10 or the MAGELLAN EXPLORIST GC as, although I have not used these, they all support paperless geocaching so you do not have to type all the co-ordinates of the caches in manually, unlike the etrexH. Anyway, great for starting off, compass feature is brill, but you have to be good at reading maps or you'll get lost! Waterproof and can stand up to the elements perfectly. Inexpensive too! I presume that the new etrex series will be trying to improve on this great GPS. However, if you're buying for your first, I would recommend the Magellan or the newer etrex (10). Overall, great for starting off two years ago, and definitely an improvement on caching with a map and compass!

It's great for my use: geocaching...and inexpensive.

A classic, basic GPS. No compass, or maps but it's tough as old boots, cheap as chips and gets the job done (if you're prepared to do a bit of extra prep work) The simple button set can be operated with gloves and it is waterproof. I like it.
