Soooo much more reliable than my Magellan Tritons and Explorists (They kept replacing and upgrading me but they continued to fritz within a few mos. I have a new one I haven't even used). A few things I did like more about the Magellan units (data is at the bottom, not the top of the screen. There is a scroll bar on the side so you know if you have a few or hundreds of items to scan. Date feature. easier to download free maps. can be set to beep at various distances from target points....) UNReliability shoots it all out the window. This Garmin hasn't frozen or given me a problem once, so far, but to be safe I bought it at REI.

Find the Garmin touchscreen model too easy to accidentally change settings. The only way to overcome the problem is to lock the device at the current screen.
