Unfortunately for this rating they no longer have a choice of the original Streetpilot which I actually have. It has been a been a steady companion for many years. Now even the software has been discontinued. Even tho it was designed for Highway use it being the only unit I had to try geocaching with, I did. It had, and still has, a consistant accuracy of about 15 feet which I think is pretty good. The jury is still out on the my other unit (Nuvi) but I expect that my old Streetpilot will be still in use for quite a while yet.

Slow but reliable, I have one of the first, the BMW Motorrad Navigator I. Data chip 128MB is too small for extended Europe tours :-(

The drawbacks are that you can only load 128MB of maps onto the memory card. so only about 3/4 of England at a time. Its accurate and reasonably quick to pick up a signal, however not as quick as more recent GPS devices. I had mine mounted on My bike and its ideal there, compared to the following units which are better and take useful memory cards, like Compact Flash or even later SD cards, this at least is useful off of the vehicle for a good 8 odd hours. As for Geocaching, its not really that practical, but I've used it for some trails where the Cache is near to the road. The Directions are visual, you can also plug it into the 12V socket there is a speaker for voice commands. You can also wire it through a speaker system direct into the unit. Lastly the unit is slow to refresh when you miss a
