My first GPSr for geocaching, I bought this one without doing a bit of research. The device was rather reliable for the most part, but compared to newer models it tended to drop signals too often for my taste. Whenever I walked near any kind of hill or rise, or if the tree cover was even slightly dense, I'd hear that annoying double tone letting me know I'd lost the signal. I did enjoy the large array of options, and I liked the simple but functional layout of the displays (by design when this device came out). Lock-on time was reasonable, and as long as I had some open terrain, the device always led me to the cache. It is durable, and waterproof. The very worst part of caching with this device was the battery life. 4 AA batteries last about 6 hours. I went through hundreds of batteries in 8 months with the GlobalMap 100. All-in-all, I don't have many regrets using it, but I wouldn't want to go back to it.
