Delaware (DE) was admitted to the Union as the 1st state on December 7, 1787. Nicknamed the "The First State," Delaware is the 49th largest state by geographic size (at 2,490 sq mi/6,452 sq km) and 45th largest by population. The capital city of Delaware is Dover, the largest city is Wilmington, and the highest point is Ebright Azimuth at 447 ft/136 m.
