Kentucky (KY) was admitted to the Union as the 15th state on June 1, 1792. Nicknamed the "The Bluegrass State," Kentucky is the 37th largest state by geographic size (at 40,434 sq mi/104,749 sq km) and 26th largest by population. The capital city of Kentucky is Frankfort, the largest city is Louisville, and the highest point is Black Mountain at 4,145 ft/1,263 m.
