Missouri (MO) was admitted to the Union as the 24th state on August 10, 1821. Nicknamed the "The Show-Me State," Missouri is the 21st largest state by geographic size (at 69,704 sq mi/180,533 sq km) and 18th largest by population. The capital city of Missouri is Jefferson City, the largest city is Kansas City, and the highest point is Taum Sauk Mountain at 1,772 ft/540 m.
