A nice quiet out of the way spot.

13/10/09 Many thanks to Martiniz for adopting this cache. He has gone to alot of trouble to make this cache enjoyable and worthwhile to visit. It now has a new container and log book and added some new trinkets and a cache note. He has also put in three photos showing the place in 1878, 1895 and 1945 plus a sketch of Major Mitchell with a short bio. Also the old log is in a zip lock plastic bag in the bottom of the container. The Cache now has a new location is not far from where the 1878 photo was taken. You will now be looking for a 1 litre sistema container and that care should be taken in ensuring the container is well covered to ensure that it is not visible from all from all angles.

The new coordinates are:
S 037° 03.035E 144° 16.388

The coordinates listed up the top are incorrect.

Cache Logs
October 10 by Martiniz (50 found)
With the agreement of the owner I moved the location of this cache today. It has been getting quite a lot of unwanted attention and was in a bad way. In fact it appears to have been muggled since I visited it last Sunday afternoon. The new location isn't too far from the old hide.

I also replaced the container and added a new log and some photos showing the place in 1878, 1895 and 1945. The new location is close to where the 1878 photograph was taken, so should provide an interesting then and now comparison. A well as this I replaced the cache items (all that was left in there were some toothpicks and a couple of bottle tops) I put in a set of ipod headphones (unused of course), an Indiana Jones action figure, a small toy car and a couple of plastic sea creatures, a dinsaour and a plastic snake. The photos are to stay with the cache and are not to be taken away.

The new location is at:
S 037° 03.035’
E 144° 16.388’

The location is now away from paths and accidentally prying eyes but I would ask that, even though the new hide is not obvious, the container is well hidden from all angles.

Happy Hunting,

Martiniz

The previous logs paint a bleak picture for this cache but I'm really glad I went.

As noted by team Boofa the posted coords positioned you at fallen log. The hint though was spot on, just not where you'd expect it to be.

The cache is in a very bad way which is a shame because it is such a wonderful location. very beautiful and historically and technically intersting as well.

The poor old cache is a take away container with some rather sad objects in there. I took pity and left two dinosaurs, a starfish and a snake (all plastic of course)

I notice in the log that Riddell also visited today. It must have been before me as it doesn't mention the critters I put in. A new container and a new dry log book would go along way to doing justice to this location. Hopefully I can get back soon to do it.

We returned today and checked in on the cache.
It is still in its hide and should really be restocked with some new trade items.
If required we may make another visit with a new container and a clean, dry log book.
The co-ordinates were re-checked and recorded as S 37 03.044 E 144 16.442

September 5 by Team Boofa (167 found)
Visited this site this afternoon to attempt but unable to find. The GPS had us searching near a fallen tree. The hint had another direction neither were successful. After ready previous log entered today wondered if still present. We did see a couple that we thought were muggles walking their dog but maybe they were on a mission. We will return to the site next time we are in the area.

The cache is in dire need of maintenance.
It seems it is also favored by muggles!
We will be revisiting the site at sometime in the future, so if need be we can service the cache.

Further note: We will be back at the cache site on the 4th of September. We may consider moving the cache and posting the new co-ordinates if required.
The Riddellers.
