Geocache Description:

St. Louis County Parks has again asked our organization to put on a 3rd geocaching seminar for the public.

This series of geocaching seminars has been well received in the past by both the public and the County Parks system and in turn, everyone can benefit from this activity. As before, we haven't worked out all the details yet so this cache page will be updated as the plans are made.

This program will be held Saturday, April 3rd, 10AM - 3PM, at the Learning Center (indoors and heated, if necessary) in Greensfelder County Park, located behind 6 Flags in Eureka. For those that haven't been here, it's a beautiful and rugged park, with lots of trails, picnic tables, creeks, steep hills and rocky bluffs. There are almost no open, flat areas, and currently there are 10 caches in the park and surrounding area.

The program is scheduled to start at the Learning Center at 10 AM. We will have a PowerPoint presentation, along with sample caches, contents, log books, etc, and whatever we want to display. After the indoor session, we will go outside where we can break up into small groups to learn about using a GPS for geocaching, locating caches, and other related questions. Laptops will be provided to transfer waypoints to the GPS's as needed using EasyGPS. Some cables will be provided (Garmin etrex and III series, and Magellan), but to be safe, it might be wise to bring your own cable. You may want to bring a sandwich or go to one of the restaraunts in Eureka, about 2 miles away. This session is scheduled to be finished by 3PM.

Mark your calendar for April 3rd and plan on attending. We will need the extra GPS's (and different brands) for those that don't own a GPS so we can provide hands on and hand holding as necessary.
If you know anyone that has an interest in learning about geocaching or received a GPS over Christmas, be sure to tell them about this event.
Registration must be done in advance through the County Parks. The reservation number is 636-391-3474 and there is a $10 fee.
This registration and fee does not apply to SLAGA members who are helping out with the event.
