It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Taekwondoman: I've archived this because a few people do a lot of complaining. If people persist to complain because (1) a cache is too difficult for you, (2) it's unfair because you don't live in the southeast valley, (3) the cache isn't 3 feet from a sidewalk, then people will stop doing challenging caches. If you want to know who the complainers are, just read the log. Plus wolfb8(libby) did some complaining via email. If you're disappointed that this cache has been archived, thank them. This cache has become a hassle to have.

A word of advice: If you don't like a cache, choose not to do it. Sounds simple to me.

Geocache Description:

Have you ever seen the movie, "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World?" Eight people bumbling to be the first to find $350,000... This is your chance to be the first to discover the treasure in this cache!!!

Congratulations Team Sand Dollar for solving this cache first! Great job!

The coordinates listed point you to the first clue.

People seem to be getting stuck on Clue #5 (to Location #6) the most. Here's a pretty good hint...

  • Go to http://www.geocities.com/taekwondoman2002/xxxxxxpark.html. Except, replace the xxxxxx with the name of the park for Location #5. Hopefully this will help. I did give this cache 5 stars for difficulty...

The purpose is not to hide clues at specific sites. The purpose is for you to decode clues to the site and I'll tell you specifically where to look at the site. Each clue will consist of a phrase. Figure out what place it's referring to and you've solved that clue. The last clue will give you the coordinates of where the cache is hid. The cache is a regular ammo box. All locations are easily accessible by all ages and abilities, although the cache requires a short walk.

All locations are within Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler. Hopefully you'll learn something about the area from solving this cache. You may figure out the answers on the internet or by talking with family, friends and co-workers. I'm interested in your comments (email please) both during and after you solve it. I don't believe it's too hard if you take an effort to know the southeast valley.

The following are the 7 locations of each clue:

Location #1: Under the straight slide at the park denoted by the coordinates of this cache.
Location #2: On the dark green electric transformer casing next to the sidewalk immediately to the east of Location #2.
Location #3: On the back of a blue metal sign at the south end of Location #3
Location #4: On the back of a yellow newspaper rack on the outside south wall of Location #4
Location #5: On the back of a parking sign that says RESERVED FOR FRONT OFFICE STAFF. Located at the northeast part of Location #5
Location #6: On the bottom side of a rock at Location #6
Location #7: At the coordinates given at Location #6

    Happy hunting!

Note #1: Due to the time involved, I can't regularly watch 7 location to make sure clues/cache don't disappear. If you get to a location and can't find the clue/cache, please email me with the specifics of where you looked. I can then tell you if you looked in the wrong place or can check the location myself to put the clue back. If the cache disappears, please email me the final coordinates and tell me what the location looks like. If right, I'll let you know and you can log a success. (When I placed the cache, there were definite signs that homeless were living nearby. I hope the cache stays. If not, I can always adjust the clue at Location #6 and move the cache to a better hiding spot.)

Note #2: You voluntarily choose which caches you do. No one is requiring you to do caches. I'm tiring of the opinions of a few. The location of the final cache is NOT a difficult hike. It is a short walk without any elevation change. It IS a 1.5 stars terrain. (Park to the southwest or west of the final cache location.) If you think it warrants a much higher terrain rating, then you're going to be rudely surprised when you attempt other caches that actually require you to climb a hill or mountain. All caches can't be next to sidewalks!

Note #3: The final cache is NOT easily visible by people in passing cars. I know. I drive on that road every day to and from work. It is very difficult to tell if someone is over getting the cache. I do try to look, hoping I'll spot someone at it.

And please, no spoiler info in the logs!!!
