In the San Francisco Bay Area
Today I placed the first stash in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have named it "Firestone" for reasons that will become evident to anyone that finds the site. Look in the trunk for the goods. Difficulty is 1 to 2, as is terrain. Scenery is a 10 (if that coastal fog has burned off). Enjoy! Update 8/1/2001 - If the shortest route to the cache is taken, the path is quite steep and can be difficult for children to negotiate. The park rangers have also requested that geocachers begin their search from a parking area located at N37 55.135 W122 37.728. A trailhead is directly across from the parking area, and the traipse to the cache from there is easy and relaxing. Thanks.

W H!!!!! #1500 Thought I would make a memorable find for my 1500th cache & decided on this one. CD & I had a nice little hike down to the cache & saw some great views & interesting stuff along the way. I'm glad to have finally found the oldest cache in the bay area. I took a coin and some pics & threw in some trackables. Thanks for a great cache.

Our 1,347th find, and sixth of 24 with Teampipperice today on a geocaching day off from our toils.

This cache was the reason we came to Western Marin today. When we parked the cachemobile at the suggested coordinates, the GPS informed us that this cache was only one kilometer away. Little did we know that the flying crow would have a much straighter route than we would. After a nice hike of about two kilometers, TP and I arrived at the scene.

Stinson Beach is one of my favorite places in the world. But I've always looked up at the mountains above and wondered what was up there. Today I found out.

It was great to accomplish the Bay Area's oldest cache, especially with my buddy Teampipperice.

A day out caching with Rohrerboy on Mt. Tam. and Ring Mtn. and points in between.
Finding this cache was one of our primary goals today. After nabbing the oldest cache in Contra Costa County a couple of weeks ago, we decided we were ready for the big time.
We started out from the recommended trailhead. It was a pleasant hike with spectacular views, in spite of all the cloud cover. I'm not sure what I expected to find at GZ, but it certainly wasn't this.
After a brief search, we had the oldest Bay Area cache in hand. I left a ckyaks geocoin, and took nothing.
We enjoyed the moment, took some photos, and headed back to the cache mobile. Thanks for getting geocaching kick-started in the Bay Area.

#900!! It was a beautiful day on Mt. Tamalpais and I was caching with scpet to find a few to make this my 900th cache. He graciously repeated this adventure as he'd found this one almost 2 years ago and he didn't even smirk while I was hunting. I swear I could hear all the voices of the previous cachers in this area. It feels good to find this oldie but goodie. As a result, we had the best view of the Farallones that I've ever seen on the way to the cache and even surprised a couple of deer feeding in the vicinity. Thank you for the great experience!
