In the San Francisco Bay Area

Today I placed the first stash in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have named it "Firestone" for reasons that will become evident to anyone that finds the site. Look in the trunk for the goods. Difficulty is 1 to 2, as is terrain. Scenery is a 10 (if that coastal fog has burned off). Enjoy! Update 8/1/2001 - If the shortest route to the cache is taken, the path is quite steep and can be difficult for children to negotiate. The park rangers have also requested that geocachers begin their search from a parking area located at N37 55.135 W122 37.728. A trailhead is directly across from the parking area, and the traipse to the cache from there is easy and relaxing. Thanks.

It was a beatiful clear day, so the view was amazing. Thank you for the parking and trail head tip. Signed log. Took nothing. Left nothing.

On a hike with the boys from Troop and Pack 73, we made the find with a little help from Geojammers. This one is a classic and I can't believe it took so long to finally come by here. Awesome views (no really, AWESOME ) and a great day to be up there. TFTC

Very cool cache to finally find. I loved the amazing views climbing down all those rock formations and that really made it worth the while. I'ts amazing how many people have signed and logged in this one.

4957. It's about time I made my way out to this old guy. We parked within 528 feet but, of course, they were all vertical. I took the direct approach thinking this would save us some time but after all it took alot longer than expected. Forman, trooper that he is, came along even though he had found this one years ago. We made it down to the trail and found the cache quickly and signed in. Climbing back up the way we came down was not an option at this stage in our day so we decided to take the trail back up to the road. Three miles later we made it back to the car. Boy, did that trail snake along the mountain! All in all a nice adventure to make the grab on one of the oldest caches around, and I wouldn't have it any other way. TFTC.

No TBs or coins here during our visit. :*( This was my first return to the cache since sliding down this way in 2004. This time, my daughters joined me on the loop hike up Trail Camp trail, across this gem, then down Matt Davis to Stinson Beach. Thanks for a hide the kids can enjoy, too.

The container could use replacement with something more wildlife-proof. I found this one open, though in its proper place. Some of the items appeared to have been dragged out or simply spilled out by last visitor - human or otherwise. :)
