Geocache Description:

This is a Geocaching event located at Alligator Lake Park. The cache coordinates are for the Pavilion where the event will be held. The Park entrance coordinates are N30 09.984 w082 36.621. The entrance is located on CR133 SW Country Club Road.

All geocachers are invited to a day of fun, food, games and a special contest. March 27th at 11:00am.This great park is 1000acres with 12 miles of the trails including some on the dikes in the lake. A link for the park can be found at http://www.columbiacountyfla.com/ParksandRecreation.asp The Parks Dept. has generously donated the use of a huge pavilion for the days activities. We will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers cooked by the official NEFGA cook. We encourage everyone to bring assorted salad and such to go along with the meal.

The Goal of this event is to help bring Geocaching to the awareness of the community of Lake City. Lake City is a growing area for NEFGA and we are taking this opportunity to help FloridaSurveyor showcase Geocaching here. We are looking forward to having many new people from the community and to put our best foot forward with the local parks and recreation people.

Tbugs: We will have a Tbug swap table set up.

:

Event Cache:As is our custom we will be placing a cache after this event so please bring items for the cache. The event host will furnish the ammo can and log book.

Prizes:  Also we are asking everyone to bring a 5 to 10 dollar trade item for the prize table.Door prizes will be drawn from this table so please be generous.

Games: We will have a variety of games and caches to hunt but the Center Piece of the event will be a cache design contest. More details to follow on this. The Special contest will be based on the purpose for the event and that is to help FloriadSurveyor seed caches in the Lake City area. We are going to have a contest where you can enter a cache in up to 4 classes. These must be complete ready to go caches. Trade items and logs. The categories for the contest will be Urban Micro, Woods or Trail Micro, Urban Full Sized Cache or Woods or Trail Full Sized Cache. All caches will be judged on the Following criteria: Content (Trade items and Logbooks), Camouflage, and Originality. After the event areas of town will be assigned to individual cachers so the caches can be placed to help seed the area.

Paintfiction has set an event before and after this event for those interested in camping this is a link to that event:Ocean Pond(?) Camping by Paintfiction.

Updates:FlaSurveyor tells me there is a sign posted for Aligator Lake Park that dogs are not alowed. They will be allowed at the camping area but not at the actual event.
