Once in Alpine, SR Mountain is fairly obvious. Logical starting point is at trailhead between Smith and Marquis Halls on the Sul Ross State University. If searching on a weekday, 8am to 5pm, you will need to park in visitor parking by the bull in front of the museum. Stay on the trail almost all the way.
