This cache is pretty easy to find on a nice footpath. It's also snow-friendly.

This is an average cache in an unusual setting.

A lantern in a tree holds the key to a box beneath a bench. Look inside and you might find something to make the trip worthwhile or perhaps at least to bring a smile.

A special note: We are in the process of building a retaining wall at The Depot and are seeking rock contributions. If you see a nice rock on the way in, please pick it up and bring it along. Thanks.

Additional Hints ( Encrypt )

Nearest parking is at the end of Robinwood Ave. Follow woods trail to right and look for a little bird house on right. (Decrypted Hints)

Visited this when Mr.H of TheHutches decided to go back during the Halloween 2009 event to log his earlier visit. It looked great at night. I'd like to go again in daylight and see the train run. Thanks for making that second trip Charlie!

Wow! What a neat setup!! This has got to rank up there on my most interesting caches list! (Ok, well, now it is a list... of 2! Build a better geocache in Nevada is the other...) But, I digress... even though we got there after dark, it was still great to look around and find all the little townsfolk and other denziens of the railroad. Found the key, realized I had forgotten my letterboxing book and stamp. Oh well, signed the cache log, and I'll have to come back for a stamp. Our timing was perfect, as on the walk back to the car the skies opened up, and we were drenched by the time the parking area hove into sight, but it was worth it! TFTC!!

What a nice place to visit! The color-coded bird house trail markers were very clever and helpful. The area was even better than the photos we'd seen. We made a point of visiting during daylight and nice weather. Spent quite a while looking over the whole setup. What a lot of craftmanship went into creating this! Mr H had to make a second trip back to log the cache, since we did not see the line in the writeup that told us how to find the cache itself. We do 'paperless caching', and sometimes we miss an important word or even a whole line when reading from the PDA screen. (That's our story, and we're sticking to it!) Mr H went back during the Halloween 2009 Geomeet with some other cachers who wanted to log this one. It was where we thought it must be.

Thanks, Chooch! Keep up the good work.

This one has been on my list for a while. Was in the area tonight for a caching event. I will certainly return sometime during the day time and hope to get the chance to see the train in action. Thanks for bringing me here and letting us share in this unique location.

This absolutely ranks up there as one of the Best Caches Ever. We loved everything about it: the meandering trail with the cool tiny birdhouse trail markers, the clever way the cache and letterbox were set up, and the amazing miniature world that awaits as you step off the trail. What an astonishing amount of craftsmanship and time went into this! The logs and pictures, and even the articles in the local paper, don't do this justice. You really have to come and experience it for yourself.

We noticed a train car and a lighthouse had fallen down the hill and were in kind of random locations, so we put them back where we thought they belonged based on pictures in the logs. Also cleared a lot of dry leaves away from the fairy houses here and there. Spent quite a lot of time looking at everything, and we kept finding other fun little touches. Would have been great to see the trains actually in operation. TN, LN - thanks so much for this fabulous cache!

What a magical place! Came across this digging the Internet for places I'd like to travel on my four month stay in New England and I am happy to have made it there and seen it. Left an action figure and took a Winnie-the-Pooh kaleidosope. Did not see any TB or coins in the cache. TFTC Chooch! A visitor from Germmany.

Took the "short route" from the end of Robinwood. I figured this would be #1 of 4 for the day. What a great way to start! I only wish I had brought my son and/or someone else to enjoy this fabulous cache. I can't believe all the work Chooch has put in to this spectacular area. Bravo! ! !...While I was admiring the Depot, a local couple came along with a pooch and was equally amazed at the workmanship. He asked me if I was Geocaching...my GPS hanging around my neck gave it away. He was kind enough to take my pic. While I was logging my find I heard a train whistle in the distance...very appropriate. TN L-Obama $, "No whining" button. OH!....loved the glass train in the cache!....I did have a smile on my face as I headed out for more....TFTC!

I shared a recent article on this cache with Salbob1 and we immediately put it on our wish list for our next trip to Boston. Salbob is a lifelong Redsox fan, enthusiastic cacher, and just happened to build locomotives for ALCO a few years back - how could we pass this one up? We visit Fenway once a year and this year we also had to stop nearby to check on our newest store going in the South Shore Plaza. Our plan was to come here first and then pick up as many in the forest as time allowed. With all the recent rain, we expected an onslaught of bugs but were happy to have perfect conditions and enough time for 3 finds from one parking. We could have rushed for all 4, but we had too much time enjoying this one for awhile. Even though the Sox ended up sweeping the Rays in less than 24hrs, this was still the highlight of this years trip. Left a Vermont keychain/opener and took some memories, thanks again!

After doing Needham at Night we decided to head over to this one. Well we managed to find the area but due to me not reading the entire cache page I didn't realize where and how to access the cache. It was still very enjoyable. The kids were awestruck. We will return. Did not want to post as a DNF because I know its there it was just my own stupidity that prevented me from finding it. Thanks for putting this here for us all to enjoy.

Thank you so much for this cache! The owners have obviously put a lot of effort into it. While on vacation from Alberta this was the only cache in the vicinity that we KNEW we had to get. It was SO worthwhile. We were hoping to find a can of bugspray in the box but had to swat our way back to the truck. The kids were amazed as were we. Thanks so much. TFT(Wonderful)C____Well what can we say, what a GREAT cache! As fate would have it, our visit was delayed at home by visitors. We had planned on a early start. Instead we arrived around noontime. Met cacher edgardner very briefly on the trail, they were running away from the hungry mosquitoes at the cache site with infant in tow. We also met at the cache, Nano+6 (we think). Grandma and grandpa with two grandchildren. This was their first ever cache! By coincidence we happened to have with us a Geocoin that is suppose to be picked up by a cacher making their first find. Soooo we gave it to them.____What a great Magical piece of forest. Well worth the trip from Braintree. We doddled around spending time looking at everything. We also brought with us an small Lighthouse, to add to the display. It is located in the rock ledge near the water wheel sleuth . Just as we were ready to depart, three people showed up. One of them was the cache owner and track builder Chooch! He had to retreive the Locomotive for repairs. It has a short circuit of some type, and is out of service for now. Soooo we saw the engine, the owner and two other cachers all at the same cache! Just an absolute perfect way to start our caching day.____TSLS__SL__Dropped GC

I knew this was to be a magical journey when I spotted the first little birdhouse.XiaDog proclaimed we were "in the feets" while FEATHERS was admiring the little birdhouses. I went on ahead and was treated to such a delightful sight. The shy little gnome that was the keeper of the key allowed us to use the key to open the treasure box. It was so incredible.... I expected to see some little pixies among the flora. The carpenter was busy making the little birdhouses....took a peek to see if there was any gold nuggets by the mines....the waterwheel was working hard, and then I was drawn back towards the Depot.I thought I heard some soulful jazz.....but I didn't have any change for his cup. Finally remembered the treasure..traded coins, signed logbook and stamped the letterbox. Thanks to "X + F" for letting me enjoy the Depot at my own pace. And thank-you Chooch for the wonderful cache.

The area around GZ is incredible! Does the set work? This was the 1st of 4 caches on the south side of the Forest & we “loved” the area more as we went along, especially after this OUTSTANDING start. Initially we didn’t want to leave this spot, but the other 3 hides were “calling”!

Someone told me about this cache over 6 years ago while at my first Halloween event. I made one other feeble effort to go for it, but after visiting a nearby college, I made the time to trek in. Greetings from Oakland, Maine. There were so many great things about this cache. First, back home in Maine, to find this, I would have had to put on snowshoes and walked through 3 1/2 feet of snow, pulled out a shovel, and prayed to the great god of geocache in order to find it. Just a little ice on the trails, the temps were still in the upper 30's. Ahhhh. Second, I would have never expected a site like this in the woods. It was very pretty. TFTC, SL Took a TB and left a pathtag!!! I only saw one TB Also dropped and picked up a few TB's for mileage

This was a trip planned in advance--and one of the highlights of our visit to family members in the area. The weather was poor (upper 30s and cold rain on and off) but you'd never know it from the smiles on the kids' faces when we found the cache and all of the surrounding treasures! The best moment was when Chooch himself came out and ran the train for us!

We are new in our caching career, but we know that it will be hard to top The Depot. Nice work over a long period of time, Chooch!

Thanks to Uncle Tony for making this fun outing happen.

We have had this cache on our "must do" list for quite some time. We decided today would be a great time to visit it since our niece and nephew were here visiting from NY. The weather wasn't perfect, but the downpours held off until after we were done and headed home so Ma Nature provided a bit of serendipity for us today.

The cache location is everything it's advertised to be. All of us were awestruck with the entire setup. The attention to detail is amazing! The kids checked things out a bit then located the key and gained access to the cache. We signed the log, took a geode, and left a Southern Pacific oil car ("H" scale, I think). We returned things as we found them then had the pleasure of meeting the cache owner himself.

Chooch was kind enough to get things set up and give us a demo of the train in operation. He took the time to explain the history of the whole thing and was gracious enough to answer all of the questions we fired at him. The kids were beside themselves the entire time.

Many thanks to Chooch for all the work that went into putting this together, and for taking time out of your day to put some smiles on our faces. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

On this terrific day, myself and three other (Nerves, Nomad64 & DennieRider) plucky geocachers left the familiar confines of Rhode Island and journeyed north to the target rich environs of Boston. We managed a number of finds, to avoid a filthy dirty eating establishment in Needham, a good beginning to the Middlesex Canal series and to not annoy each other to the point of homicide. All in all a totally successful day of caching.

This cache was touted to me and DennieRider as a "must do" cache. We were not disappointed and spent more time exploring and playing around than our admittedly haphazard schedule alloted. But the time spent was well worth it, with almost every step we found cool things to goggle at. What fun!

What a lovely place. I wanted to introduce my aunt to geocaching while I was on a trip here from Kuujjuaq, Qc, Canada. I'm glad I made the time to see this one. My aunt was impressed as she had never been here before despite living nearby for the last 21 years. Thanks for the special time in a special place.

Geocacher University
11:57 am (IlliNOISE Time)

Koneko kept telling me that she had some special places to take me and some special caches to get. This one was on her "must do" list for me.

Wow. What a cool cache! The owners met us at their house and escorted us back to the tracks. We got a great demonstration of the train running and spent a lot of time talking. After finding this one we headed on into the woods for another cache and then came back to their house for some coffee and cookies.

Of course, I had to find the cache first...which meant figuring out the very puzzling hint. Hmmmm...."the lantern holds the key"....Perhaps the lantern is a metaphor for the light that is within all of us. Y'know like, "this little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine."

Oh..wait...there's a key in that lamp. Silly me.

I signed the log and left behind a Signature Magnet.

Thanks for being such wonderful hosts and for placing this cache out here so others can enjoy your hard work. It's a really great spot and one of my favorite caches!

thanks for making CYBret's trip to this spot extra special!

A truely magical place. A place to reflect on the day, year, life, or just that moment. Seems to me more visitors should go see this cache, it should be very pretty in the fall. Also loved the birdhouse trails. Left Nordic Travelers geocoin, finally a cache large enough to put it in. Took nothing. Mogo coin missing. TFTC

Spent some time meandering through the woods not always certain whether to stay with the trail or start bushwhacking. Fortunately we decided to stick with the trail and were finally rewarded with an extraordinary find. Kudos to Chooch for a remarkable effort. The more we looked the more interesting things we found. We took the Colorado Golden Girl Travel Bug and plan to take her to New York. We also swapped a Tic-Tac-Toe key chain for a Gecco pin. Enjoyed the cache immensely. And what a lovely setting. We signed both logs and used the birdcage stamp.

Visiting from Colorado, but we used to live here. Our friends that live here had visited this one and said it was really neat. So we had to go see.
Really enjoyed, and it was also a neat walk in the woods. Liked the set up.

Left a travel bug from Colorado and took a magnifying glass.

I had heard about this cache about two years ago and had wanted to get out this way to do it. Had to drop my daughters off at Logan Express this afternoon and that gave me the perfect excuse to head out this way. With the Mrs. in tow we got to the parking and quickly located our first little birdhouse. After follwing the zig-zagging trails we eventually came to the Depot. While the Mrs. admired the layout I accessed the cache and signed the log. We spent some time checking the area out before heading on to another cache. Swapped TBs.

I've been wanting to get here for the longest time...probably since I first started geocaching and heard about this unique cache with a train setup in the woods. Enjoyed all the little surprises here and there. Wish we could've seen the train run but it was nice nevertheless. I'm so amazed that people hiking through the area respect the setup and leave it alone.

Thanks for a truly unique hide!

Nerves has been wanting to do this one since forever. We found ourselves in the area (thanks to my new Colorado and the couple of local Wherigo caches), so we went for it. It did NOT disappoint. Even though the trains weren't running today (ummm...do they just run? Or were we supposed to *do* something?), this was one of the really memorable ones. We spent some time looking at all the little tableaux and puzzling over all the little...bird house...things...oh, dear. Serious crazy? Serious creative? Whatever. A wonderful cache. Hope everybody had a wonderful Fourth. Thank you for the experience!

This cache has been on my radar screen for years - about five to be exact. Five years is a long time to anticipate finding a cache. Well, today was the today. After a family picnic in the park the dad (me) left the mom and baby behind and trudged off into the Woods.

I knew something was waiting for me but not what. Even with these expectations, what a surprise. In a word, awesome. I lingered for a while and checked out all the intricacies of the locale. When I finally got around to the cache I picked up the Beautiful Lakes TB and left a golden dollar. Thanks for a special one.

It was a real pleasure to follow the small trail well marked with those small orange birdhouses. Once we arrived at this awesome site, there was other people there too. They were looking at this exceptional construction. Eventually, we met together and had a nice chat . Thanks to Lynn memory we did not had to refer to our Palm Cachemate in order to know where to retrieve the key.
I also dropped a Red Jeep TB that was immediately picked it up by Paul.
Happy geocaching!

Although Lynn had been here before, Paul hadn't seen it. So we headed out. We took the long way in, but when we got there we discovered we weren't alone. Another couple was hanging out at the other end of the tracks. We wandered, waiting for them to leave. They didn't. But they finally wandered in our direction and we saw the GPSr in one hand. Aha! So we met Opus Terra and Bella Terra, all the way from Quebec! When they get back home, they're going to drop the red Jeep TB that we picked up. Thanks for a most marvelous cache!

8/19/07 - This was cache #5 for us. We just don't seem to get out as much as we like, so we felt if we're going to go........make it special!
Took our 3 year old for her 1st! Too bad the train wasn't running.
But we were able to relax, have a snack and read a book (see photo).
I can see that this took a lot of time and care in putting this all together. What a great place to sit, relax and share!!
We'll be back. Can't wait to see this in operation.
"All Aboard!!"
10/21/07 - Went back today since we were in the area. "Sans" GPS, we ended up following a whole other set of bird houses and took the long way. Nice walk though.
Since I now know about the key, logged book, left $1 and took the frog.
My daughter lost the frog on the way out, so if you find it, just put it back into circulation. :)
No cooch today, but still a great visit. Loved the festive addition of pumkins!!

 September 30, 2007 by Lou3 (463 found)
What a great day! Skeeterwart and I arrived at the cache site and were amazed at the level of intricate detail and work that went into constructing The Depot. I signed the log and left a custom button. Then we admired the setting for a while and went off to the next cache.

As we were nearing the next cache, a large group of hikers was coming down the trail, so we stepped aside to let them pass. As the group was about half way by us, one of the women asked me if I had seen the birdhouses marking the trail. I said yes, and she said the man at the front of the line had put them up. I said "That's Chooch?!". We went up and told him that we had just completed his cache and how much we enjoyed it, and he offered to let us see the train in action. Of course, we said yes! What serendipity. What are the chances of that happening?

The owners gave us the full demonstration and it really brought the cache to life! It was great to meet the cache owners and their hiking companions who were the nicest people. The whole experience had a magical feeling to it. Thanks for a very memorable cache!

What a wonderful day to be out caching. Lou3 and I were slightly disappointed when we arrived at this cache and there was no train conductor present, but we logged in anyway and admired all of the work that has gone into this marvel in the woods. I left Lost Palm Pilot TB and picked up a coin (didn't see the other 2 TB's) and off we went.

Nearing our next cache we ran into my first traffic jam in the woods. The path was narrow and the oncoming traffic was 10 deep plus a retriever. WOW, they just kept coming, one after another, several remarking what a nice day it was to be out in the woods...then suddenly we discovered...we'll I'll let Lou3 tell the rest of the story. I was driving around the area with a lttle spare time when I saw this cache closeby. I didn’t have any information about it whatsoever, but decided to make a quick hike in and see what a depot in the woods would look like. What I found when I got there was quite a pleasant surprise!

After some time looking for the cache without any luck I noticed a couple walking through the woods, and I tried to be as quiet as possible to not disturb them while I kept poking around, but they ended up sitting right where I was heading back to look. I told them I was searching for a thing called a geocache and the woman unexpectedly asked, “Have you read the hint?” I figured she must have heard about letterboxing (I had no idea this was a letterbox hybrid at the time!) and told her it was really a geocache I was after. Unphased, the man asked, “Do you *want* the hint?”

Okay, now I was both confused and intrigued, so I asked if they’d actually found this cache. They laughed and the man said, “Yes. We placed it.” Ahhh...serendipity...the owners had arrived! And it was a good thing, too, as without the “key” to the problem I would never have found the cache. After that it was a fast find. As I was signing the log another woman showed up walking her dog, stopped to chat, and remarked, “Isn’t that a geocache?!” It turned out she had read about the cache/letterbox here and was intrigued by the whole hobby. Very neat.

After that we treated to a demonstration by the owners which was great fun, then my time was up and I had to head out. Great to meet you, chooch! You’ve put a great deal of time and energy into this fascinating spot, and a visit is highly recommended.

This is our favorite cache so far, with a magical feeling that has been bestowed upon it by its creator. The attention to detail and years of work are evident.

This was another cache that I had on my 'to do' list while visiting from Ottawa Ontario, and I managed to find my way to the trailhead without paper or gps maps today. The rain was holding off, so in I went.

I started to see the little birdhouses and thought that it was a neat way to blaze the trail. At this point I was thinking that you had put them up (I hadn't done the other caches yet..), and had a great hike to the cache. As I came upon the GZ I couldn't believe what I was seeing! (I hadn't looked at the cache page, just downloaded it). That must have been a pile of work!!

Was that you I passed on the trail? Blue shirt walking a dog?

Everything was in place today, although I forgot my stamp in the truck. I improvised, using a Canadian toonie as my stamp! i stamped my logbook with the cache stamp, then made trades in the geocache as well.

T nothing
L a pig and a keychain & signed both logbooks

My two sons will be away on Father’s day so we decided to celebrate early. They asked me what I wanted to do and I said geocaching and chose the Depot, because I had heard so much about it.

The hike along the trial was pleasant and I was wondering what could make this cache so special. When we rounded a bend in the trail I found that this cache lives up to its reputation.

What an incredible place!

After admiring the ingenuity of the creator of this wonderland, we hit the nearby Boulder cache. On the way back who should we run into, no one other than the man himself, Chooch with Mrs. Chooch.

He graciously offered to show us the site in action and it was a thrill, sort of like poking around in the North Pole, admiring the work of Santa’s elves and running into Santa himself.

Chooch – Thanks for a great cache.

After a nice walk through the woods I came across this idyllic and whimsical location to get my 100th find. I found the cache, took out the log book and enjoyed the location as I slowly leafed through it. Chipmunks and squirrels abound in this miniature world. I ended up putting the cache back and keeping the log book out as I heard a couple muggles approaching. I had the pleasure of meeting Chooch and chatted with him for quite a while after helping him jury rig a fallen bird feeder. Unfortunately the trains weren't running on schedule due to technical difficulty. I plan on coming back to visit other caches in the area, and of course visit here again, with a couple friends, one of whom is a cacher and the other a letterboxer. Took memories of a great milestone cachek, left a bird feeder that was more elevated than when I arrived. Thanks for making this place and inviting visitors to share it!

WMC and the CLan have been trying to coordinate an attempt at theis cache for MONTHS! We finally got out today for the find. As Matt mentioned, we took the long way in, thinking it was, well, the only way in. (We never found the shortcut, since we did the caches we passed on the way in on our way out!) A good k=hike never hurt anyone though. I was surprised to learn from Chooch that this setup isn't in fact on his, or anyone's, private property... and it remains here unmolested. Not a beer can or bottle or illicit campfire anywhere. Dang.

We signed the logbook, but forgot any trade items, so no trading today. I also resisted the tmeptation to grab any TB's. I've had a bad track record with them.

Here's to hoping this cache lasts another 5 years!

We came from Los Angeles to find this cache. The trail was very clearly marked. The kids loved Chooch's setup, but alas, no Chooch. We were there at about 11:30 AM; I guess this was before the live demo mentioned in today's other logs. Took a fire hydrant magnet, a car, and spiky-ball guy. Left a rat, a Homie figure, a Russian pin, a boat, and a ring. Thanks, Chooch!

after tackling the massachusetts delorme challenge, i decided i wanted to try another challenge: to find 100 non traditionals in a row. as #3500 was the delorme, i wanted to get to #3600 without finding a traditional cache.

note: if i EVER do anything like this again, somebody stop me!!!

so i would spend the next 57 days going after multis(44), puzzles(47), virtuals(4), hybrids(2), and events(3). While trying to decide which one to do for the big 3-6-0-0, i remembered this one and thought it would be a great way to end this quest.

it REALLY was.

even the rain couldn't dim the smile i had as i crossed over the last tiny hill and came upon this fantastic area. of course, finding out that astrostar, wmc and clan delaney had been there just an hour or so before me did.... - but i'll get over that!

this was truly a fantastic spot and i wish i had been there to see it in motion. thank you SO much for putting this together and for sharing it with others. it is truly a great gift!

Hello! Wow ... I do not have enough nice things to say about this letterbox! This cache has been on my radar for some time and I wanted to wait for a weekend where I could share it with my children and our friends. The WMC Kids and I drove in from Western Massachusetts (Granby, MA) specifically to find this one. Packet of Clan Delaney and his Cache Rats as well as astrostar came with us for the fun.

On the way in, my GPS navigated us into the parking area with absolutely no troubles. I had called ahead and was very excited that Mr. and Mrs. Chooch had agreed to meet us at the cache so that the kids could see the trains running. Before we came, I had only told the kids that this was a 'special cache' that had something to do with trains. I wanted the moment the true nature of Ground Zero was revealed to be a complete surprise. Unfortunately, the surprise was a little delayed as we took the LOOONG WAY around to the cache. The kids were having so much fun following the bird-house trail that I don't think it really registered that there may have been a better way in. We figured as long as we could see bird-houses, we were on the right track. However, once we all finally reached GZ (sorry to keep you guys waiting!!!) my keeping the secret was rewarded with cries of, "WOW!! DAD!!! Look at THIS!!!" All four kids were instantly facinated.

Mr. Chooch happily fired up the engines for us while the Dads tried to keep some sense of order amongst the children (The Clan Moms were at home enjoying a kid-free Sunday afternoon!) and keeping little hands off the tracks and cars! The result was the kids chased the train back and forth along the tracks for nearly 15 minutes of fun and delight. After the demonstration of The Depot, the next order of business was the letterbox. Astrostar did the honors of finding the key and unlocking the cache (it was his 400th find milestone ... CONGRATS ASTROSTAR!) while the kids dug in for the Opening of the Cache Ceremony ... the main feature of which involves a frenzied inspection of every single item in the cache by each child in order ot choose that one special trade item. Big Brother (almost 6 years old) selected a pack of cards while 1 1/2 year old Little Sis settled on a golf ball. We dropped in a collapsable camping cup and a compass whistle in exchange. I signed the log and stamped it with our WMC "smiley". We also took the Diabetes TB and the "Lost of Vacation 1" TB to move them along. Dropped in the GOTJ's May06 GCC geocoin which was trying to get back to Eastern Massachusetts (where it wants to stay).

Thank you again Mr. & Mrs. Chooch for a wonderful and memorable cache! The kids talked about the trains all the way back to the car. We ended up taking he long way back to pick up a few of the other geocaches in the area while we were there. This cache is a classic!

All the best!

Came from Western Massachusetts along with Western_Mass_Clan and Clan Delaney to find The Depot this afternoon. I had heard this cache was special and it lived up to its reputation. The model railroad is a true work of art. We also had the opportunity to meet Mr. and Mrs. Chooch! This was a milestone find for me as well, #400. I won't soon forget it. Thanks to Western_Mass_Clan and Clan Delaney for inviting me along for the trip, and thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Chooch for a truly memorable caching experience! TNLN, signed the log and left my stamp.

Now that we're doing more of these, decided to go back and log the ones I hadn't logged before. As I recall, it was a nice spring day, a bit chilly. We had been to the Depot many times before, since we live nearby. But we finally got to meet Chooch this time! My son had been hoping for such a meeting for 2 years, I would guess. Took a Croatian calendar, left a toy car.

whooohoooo # 800 FINALLY! Our day started out visiting our friend SRD and scooping up a couple of his caches to get to this final one. then we stopped to get a special present at Blueyz house and a lovely little escort ( or should i say MINI ) to the begining of this cache. Thanks Blueyz for the direction! We loved the little trail markers and the trails were nice and peaceful on this milestone adventure. I was quite impressed when we reached our destination and was so glad that this was my 800th find. A long wait and lots of unexpected things to finally reach this amount ( i should be in the thousands by now ! ) But well worth the visit and a great milestone ... I will certianly return with my little cousin and his new gift, he will LOVE this cache for sure! Thanks to Cool Librarian for venturing out with me and pushing me to get to this mark. We enjoyed our visit and day in the area and will return again! I left a United for diabetes tag that wants to go to Poland and took the jimmy TB ... Cache is in great shape and ready for the next visitors .. I would love to go out when the cache owner visits and maybe fires up this baby! Thanks

Woo Hoo!!! My 200th find!!!

Where do I begin? This place is incredible! As we approached the area of the cache, it began to snow, making the experience all the more magical. Everywhere we looked, we were amazed by the intricate detail.

I hate to admit it, at first I couldn't find the key . I consulted the cache page, and raZor510 found the hiding spot. We were very impressed with the hide, especially the container which contained the stamp.

I took a TB, and left a Green Jeep TB and a Clown Geocoin.

Thanks to Chooch for all your hard work, this is a fantastic cache!

We took the white trail to the blue trail to the orange trail on the way to the cache. We should have gone the white trail and then taken the orange trail on the right to the cache.

I bailed out the poor guys rowboat because it had sunk due to the rain. He should get an electric bilge pump!

Awesome cache! Took heart ornament. Left slide whistle.

Did not expect to stumble upon this! What a surprise, let's just say there's a dedicated woodsman out there. I highly recommend those who are more into hiking to ascend High Rock. You can get their by taking a left into the woods after the parking area, instead of the right you take for the cache. Great views yet very steap terrain, beware of this. P.Stuart & Guin

I read about this cache in the forums and knew I had to see it. I've had it on my watch list for a while and I knew I'd be coming to MA for Thanksgiving, so I asked the Kuprak Krew if we could add it to the schedule. We brought a couple of friends to show them what geocaching was about.
This place reminded me of when Klawed of Kuprak Krew and I were young we'd take our Barbie and Skipper dolls down to the Little River and send them floundering down the the rapids to be saved, and there would be lttle caves and hiding places and miniature forests with the Princess Pines. A tiny little tiny person's world. I was hoping Chooch would stop by, but I could imagine it running. A lot of love went into this little spot in the world. Thanks Chooch! I'll have photos soon.
And hey, if Klawed says no one over ate, it had no reflection on my cooking! I swear!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Cache you later,
Planet

Edit to add: I forgot to mention, I left one of my newest handmade signature items in this cache. It is a framed mini watercolor painting.

That was an amazing cache!!! We took the looong way because we missed a trail then after 10 minutes we went a little back and saw the turn that lead us straight there. Then when we got there but we couldn't find the key. Then while we were talking with someone else there they told us where the owner lived , so we dropped by their house and the wife took us down there and he was there (he must of come right when we left) and he said the clue a few times and we got it. If not, please consider writing it up. I want to hear the story. While at the cache, a mom and a few kids showed up. She had met the owner on a previous visit with her son, and told me part of the story the owner told her.

Midnite Breez and Myself made a special trip out here from Western MA after hearing so much about this amazing cache. Believe me we were not disappointed this by far has to be one of the best caches around if not the best We were amazed at the detail of the whole cache area, even the trail leading in to the cache from the small birdhouses to the signs and telephone poles lining the trail. After spending time checking everything out we found the cache where the log noted. Midnite Breez released her first Travel Bug and we replaced the cache.

Wow! What an adventure we had today. I have had this cache on my watch list for quite some time now and I finally had the opportunity to find this great cache today. We found the parking area with no problems and it was a great walk to the cache. You can't miss the cache once you get close so locating it wasn't a problem. We spent a good 15 minutes just checking out everything the area had to offer before we even looked for the actual cache box. Once we had the cache box out we were looking through the log book at some past logs when we noticed 3 people walking towards us. Once they arrived at our location 2 of them identified themselves as Mr. & Mrs. Chooch, and the 3rd person to my surprise identified herself as a reporter from the Boston Globe doing research for an article that will be appearing in the paper in a few weeks. We spent the next 20 minutes answering questions and explaining geocaching to the reporter. Mr. Chooch even fired the train up for everyone to watch. It started down pouring almost instantly with no warnings so we said our thanks and goodbyes and headed out. What a GREAT afternoon had by all!
Thanks Mr. And Mrs. Chooch for a Great Cache! Enjoy the Crop Circle Geocoin!

This has been on my watch list for almost a year. I was out this way on business, it was too nice a day to not make a slight detour and check out what I'd heard was one of the best caches in New England.

It didn't disappoint! Nice stroll through a pretty trail, with whimsical miniature bird houses pointing the way.

The cache site is a joy! The engineering and workmanship of the trestle are a marvel. I also had the honor of meeting Chooch and Mrs. Chooch, and seeing the line in action.

I didn't have my caching pack with me, I took nothing, left nothing. I hope to get back this way, next time I'll know what to bring to stock the cache!

This was an amazing cache, and will definitely always be one of my favorites. My kids loved it to, and would love to come back and see things in working order sometime.

Thank you so much for brining the Boot Group out here!

We have been looking forward to this cache for a long time and were not disappointed. Mom, Dad and Abigail had a great day for a walk after an appointment in Wellesley. Loved everything, the trail markers, the "signs" along the way, and of course, the final outcome. Stamped and signed in and traded two toys for a recorder. Hope to return with our six-year-old and catch things in action next time. Thanks so much!

A fun walk through the woods with our grandkids - they had been to the spot before, not realizing it was a geocache. So they led the way and off we went - through giant mosquitos and dripping leaves. Fortunately the rain held off. Thanks for the neat excursion.

Drum roll please! #100 for Team Oreo Cookies. I have had my eye on this cache for a while now, but decided to save it for this special milestone. The nicest of our first 100 and number 1 on our top ten list. Many, many thanks to Mr & Mrs Chooch who was onhand for this milestone and Mrs Chooch who offered to get Mrs Oreo Cookies and accompany her via a easy short cut to the cache site. Mrs Oreo Cookies, had to go back part way through the woods for an obstacle she could not traverse (she has a fused ankle). Mr & Mrs. Chooch told us all about this area which he has worked on for 11 years and about some of their travels (Iceland here we come!). They were also gracious enough to present the team with our 100 cache milestone coin and pin sets (which I got earlier this week, just in time). Mint(Max)Oreo was always interested in trains and this was the perfect cache for him. We gave Mr & Mrs Chooch 2 TeamOreoCookies Geochips as our thank you for a very special cache.

#200, and the crowd goes wild, made this a family cache just as with my 100th, we got there and the train was not running today, so we looked hi and low(no hint, no paperwork.) with no luck, so i ran back to the car(where the paperwork was) and read the note, quick find after that. traded some stuff and was looking at the letterbox material(it's interesting, need to get my self a stamp and book)when we heard people comming, stuffed everthing back where we got it from, and did everything we were supposed to do. come to find out it was chooch. he and Mrs. chooch were showing a friend the train(YEA!!!!) we got to see the train run and meet chooch (had a nice talk)all in all a very memorable #200. thanks Chooch.

We were out for a day of caching with ~Bailey~ and they told us we just had to do this cache. They wouldn't tell us why just that it is one of their favorite caches (With them having over 1000 finds we knew it had to be special). We loved the cache!!! Can't even begin to think how much work went into it. Thanks for this very special area. We took the coin dollar and magic 8 ball and left a hand sanitizer, a smiley magnet and one of our signature geo-pens. Thank you so much again for this wonderful cache.

#400! I've had this one on "the list" for some time, having read everyone's rave reviews, and thought it would be a great choice for this milestone. We parked near High Rock and enjoyed a pleasant walk along wooded paths. At a bend in the path we encountered the first of many tiny birdhouses mounted shoulder-high on various trees and knew we were on the right track. As we progressed, I discovered the roof color corresponded to various trails throughout the forest (ingenious!). Posted photos just can't do the cache location justice - you just have to experience it yourself (and if you're LUCKY, you'll have the pleasure of meeting Chooch, as we did.) Today teased with the slight feel of Spring and we arrived with the sun low in the sky. It was pure heaven to sit a spell on the handcrafted bench with the warm sun on our faces, visit with Chooch, admire his handiwork, watch the train come 'round the bend, leaf through the logbook (w/entries from 2001!), listen to the trickling water, winged ones, and windchimes... Ahhhhh... A memorable visit to an enchanting location. Didn't have a proper ltrbox stamp, so made a couple thumbprint creatures in your log. Swapped pr of tupperware corn butterers & tupper keychain for scrapbook sparkles. Dropped TB Flying Elvis. Thanks for making this milestone SO special! P.S. Didn't see any TBs in cache when we arrived.

Oh man was this one was a treat.. Not only was it Relaxyourback's 400th cache, but we got there to meet the cache owner and train engineer CHOOCH! As we approached he popped out behind a tree with a big hello. We sat on the handmade bench while he loaded up the chickadee food.. The history lesson of this enchanting area was really great, and I just loved everything about the cache. Definitely on my top 5 list. As a super bonus treat, we got to see the train do a complete route around the caching area. I'm so glad to have been able to see this place (thanks geocaching!) and so glad to meet its maker. Thanks Chooch for the excellent cache experience. Congrats RYB.. 400!!!

Came here after doing "Brave the Elements". Got here at around 2:30 or so on an overcast and dreary day. This is the first time in a long time I have gone caching without my PDA. So I had no coordinates or anything. I thought I could just remember how to get to the area. So I marked the car and off I went. I got really turned around in a few spots, everything looked so different from the last time I was here. But after recognizing a few landmarks and other cache sites, I figured out which way to go.

I came here because I had a bunch of bugs, that I needed to get moving, and one's mission was to be dropped in our favorite caches, so I figured, what a great treat to get to go back here and also put in a cache that isn't easily muggled.

EVen better: I got to meet StripedMoose who was out finding the Depot. Nice guy and the owner of one of my favorite vituals, got to give him a special geocoin. Hope we can go caching together in the future! I forgot to offer my coin collection for him to log and view, maybe next time.

Geocaching was our "hot" thing to do for a good 13 months — then we hit the rut of disliking urban caches because they're so...well, gross, and the price of gas had discouraged us from getting into the Sierras. Though the embers of our geocaching hobby had diminished, finding this letterbox hybrid certainly stoked the flames again.

We're out from California visiting Bezekira's family in Westwood. I had this cache pegged for her to do at Thanksgiving '04 but she never made it. Finally having our shopping and wrapping done, today was devoted to caching. Up first, our first letterbox hybrid attempted. What a treat.

As soon as we had visual on the elaborate area the name of the cache made sense. This definitely ranks in the Top 10 of caches. When we come back in the summer (hopefully for a wedding) we'll have to stop by and see if everything is running. Z-Rexx will love it!

Stamped our Pocket Memo book and finally used my stamp after owning it for 10+ years. Bezekira took the New England Green keychain to take back to California and I took the Buzz Lightyear keychain leaving one of YFBTanky's Tanks, a signature item of the N.U.T.S. group from Yuba City, California. TFTLBH! No sign of the Travel Bug, though. Happy Holidays.

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN PICS!!

#2 of 7 today. Found at 11:50 on a suprisingly warm and sunny day; wasit snowing yesterday?! In the words of Frank Barone: "Holy Crap!" This was an amazing cache; definitely top 5 material. So much time was spent on this, I commend the creator for his effort. We spent at least a half hour just looking and searching around for all the little details. The houses even have jack-o-lanterns out for Halloween! There were some muggles on the path who asked, "Were we responsible for all of this?" I wish I could have answered yes, but he left after viewing it a little bit. I think my favorite part was the treasure under water; but there was just so much to see!

The cache was well stocked, and fun to get. Although I did not see a TB in either box; but I might have missed it. I wish we could have opened the other box to make some train noises . Wow, I can't stop thinking about this cache it was great!

Took: nothing except to stamp one of my personal cards to hang at home.

Hit this one way back in November when I was somewhat of a newbie. I didn't understand what was written in the description and thought the locked box was just a bonus so I didn't really look hard for the key, but looked everywhere else for the cache. ha ha Came back today and found the key and the cache in a couple of minutes flat. Only thing I almost lost was my dog when he saw a deer and split for about 15 minutes. Came back ready to pass out from exhaustion. Serves him right.

Took one of the Hermit Crabs' pens and left a couple of bucks. Thanks!! This is the neatest thing I've ever come across in the middle of a forest before.

This was our first cache and we thought it was as magical as Disney.... The bird houses lined the trees and we found it easily... The path was a little over grown which made the hunt even more fun!!!! We will be back again because we didn't find the key to unlock the log book :) but we have some awesome pic's to share... We left a tea cup at the light house... but we didn't take anything... Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot .... Josh and Karen... woo hoo...
7-9-05 We went back today to find the key and we unlocked the bench with the cache box... We left a button from another cache we found today at Ellis Pond... Where's the unemployement line... We signed the book and added these pic's today.. so now it will be counted as a find... We went at the last minute and added another family member Michaela... Thanks again.. ps we ran into a frog, snake and lots of mosquitos...

I have traveled quite a bit over the years and have met a lot of people, a few who could rightly wear the label "Genius."
Now I've seen the work of one more. The creative vision required to imagine this fairyland in the woods, much less the time and energy spent making it a reality, just blows my mind. I spent easily a couple of hours here just marveling at all the little hidden details that don't reveal themselves on first glance. Finding the cache was almost an afterthought (and almost didn't happen!) I had only taken a cursory look at the cache page, so when I saw the area I knew I was in trouble! No magnetic-key-holder-under-a-bench here! This was going to be something special.
I looked for a while. Then I sat and thought. Then I thought and sat. Then I thought it was right near where I was sitting. I gleefully pulled up the line where I thought sure I was going to find something at the end!
(Hmmmmm.... I STILL think that would have made a dandy hidey place!) I finally remembered one word from the cache page that led me to look in the right place.

I loved the log entry that said something like, "This is not like the caches in Las Vegas." Really? Out east here this is pretty much the standard. LOL!!!

Took the birthday TB. Thanks for a great day.

Cool spot! We took a long, circuitous route to it, which we didn't realize until we headed out toward Boulder Field, and found ourselves walking in the same big circle we had already walked in once -- we walked right past the other cache the first time ). We loved all the little details and surprises here -- seems like every time we looked in a new spot, there was another delightful little thing to see. Took a butterfly fingerpuppet (or maybe it's a pencil-topper). Left a hermit crabs torch-pen, a geocaching magnet/pin/carabiner combo, and a red white & blue Hot Wheels car (just in time for 4th of July next weekend!). Dropped off the Birthday Bug TB. Thanks for a fun cache!

Perfect coordinates, no bushwhacking required. Great cache, however we were disappointed that the key was not in the lantern. Hope to visit when we read that all is in place again. Visitors beware that we came home covered with ticks (over 30 ticks between 2 dogs and 2 humans) after visiting several caches in the area.

Chooch has informed us that we should not log this find since we did not find the key. Unfortunately, the tick situation was so bad that we may not return .

What a very pleasant surprise. We went to look for this one this morning with our daughter and her family, Craft Canines, who had found it last September. We missed the direct trail to it in the still plentiful snow but managed to get to it after first finding the Boulder Field cache. The Canines knew all about what we would find once we got to the cache area, but they kept mum about it all the way there. A very clever and interesting set-up and one of the more secure caches we've ever seen.

We took a golf ball and left a $1WG. TFTC.

Second of four caches in the area today. This one was a little harder to get to through the snow then the first but it was not too bad. With the 2-4 inches of snow last night, it was really hard to see the whole setup at the cache. I will have to come back when there is no snow. I left a cassette tape and a TB. Very unique and fun cache. TFTC.

I looked for quite a while but didn't find it. I did see the very neat outdoor project. WAY cool!

I also found the lantern in the tree, but there was no key there. Another sad face.

I'll try again. My GPS was all over the place so I blame it, but I was searching for a solid half hour around the area and found nothing. As usual, I'm probably just being stupid. ha ha

This has been on my "highly recommended" list for some time, but I never seemed to have enough time until today. I was really impressed with all of the work that has gone into this in terms of design and construction and this will certainly go down as one of my more memorable caches.

BeowolfMac and Anna found this beautiful cache site in an idyllic wooded setting on a perfect Fall Sunday. Signed logbook, took a pink carabineer and left a 7" Disney Cinderella magic wand acquired at Mac D's in San Diego in December, 2003. Intend to return and enjoy this cache again. Our compliments to those who obviously work hard to maintain this area. We really enjoyed looking through the small notepads of artwork and verse contributed by the little visitors!

What a delightful stop! We had all our crafty canines with us today so we just loved looking at all there was to see, including the bird houses along the way. This was particularly great since we had just set up something similar at our house today (it goes all through our living and dining room). Our youngest canine is really into these things, so we absolutely had to take the Little Toot TB. We'll take it to Connecticut this weekend. We left a little rock that my daughter considers special. [Found it with my wife, who never tried Geocaching before today. Thoroughly charming! The key was MIA, however.] Sorry I missed seeing this place in action.

[Chooch emailed me to say that the key was where it should be. So the defect is in the searcher, not the search! (Isn't that always the way?) Don't be discouraged, folks--I screw these things up all the time.]

My son and I rode our bikes through the Needham Town Forest to get to this site. We left the Goofy bendable figure and took a Digimon pencil eraser. My son walked around the whole site, calling to me to see all the different surprises. We live near the town forest and have been past this site many times before never realizing that this is a geocache. It was quite a few days ago that we did this, so i'm not sure that i have the date quite right.

This was our first geocache and what a way to start. It was most exciting and the cache was so well done. Dad and son found it together.

We took a high bounce space ball and left a smiley face pop up toy and a wooden token for a free ride on the Watch Hill Carousel in Westerly, RI.

We looked at but left the trail bug from PA. However, we put it and the accompanying note in a new plastic bag to keep him safe.

We each took a picture of ourselves and left the camera.

We encourage anyone with young children to put this cache high on your list. It is most worth the trip.

Visited with my friend, Luke (age 7), on his first geocaching expedition. I knew he'd get a kick out of this cache (though I didn't want to set his expectations of geocaching too high.."They're not usually like this one, Luke - you usually only find a box in the woods").

Well, he's hooked. He's only been in the country for three months (a friend adopted him from Ecuador) and he came here with huge fears about the monsters that are in the woods. I wanted to show him there's nothing to be afraid of...and I think he's convinced.

Thanks, once again, for your magical cache!

thanks to the owner for taking the time to make this cache out of the ordinary. igglets didn't know what awaited them and were indeed curious about the items lining the way in (we stopped and replaced one that had fallen). this held their attention for some time and it wasn't until they were standing in front of a rather large object that they really absorbed what they were seeing. how they hoped that it was in motion! nevertheless, we enjoyed the investigation of all things little and signed into the log. we also left a tb as a treasure of our own : )

Our last cache find in the Needham woods. I'd planned on saving this one for last, not anticipating as much difficulty in finding one of the other sites. We left the woods to grab a drink and to re-sync. Got the 7-year old enthused when I said this was a "special" cache, so he got back engaged.

I noted the "look for the bird house" and that feature of the trail was probably the most entertaining to the kids.

All has been said about this one, but the kids both said this was the neatest cache they'd been to and want to bring their little sister (1 1/2 years) to it. Hopefully, we'll go next when it's running!

[This was our first cache find of three today. CdiX helped us get to the Needham Forest, at least the best entrance to get to them quickly.

Loved all the little bird houses (well, mosquito houses) on the way in to the 'station'. It seems to be a well-to-do neighborhood, as there were little split levels ones, as well as ones with decks and satellite dishes. We even spotted one older house of all wood construction. The others seemed to be more 'post-modern' in style, though. The later houses used a lot of plastic and metal.

The best part is the last, though. That 'station' is on one heck of a ]trestle[. That must have really been a labor of love for the subject. It is the best cache that we've seen. We left a pack of Pokemon cards, and took the "And Hawaii Makes 50" Travel Bug.]

We loved the little houses used
To mark the trail and unconfuse
The way to up to the hide
Were there tiny birds inside?
The cache itself was quite a treat
A bench was there to rest our feet
A waterwheel, a lighthouse too
A trestle high to name a few.
This cache was built with pride and care
The key we found was hidden there
We swapped some bugs and signed our name
Took paratrooper, left water game.
The cache worked out just like a charm
Safe a sound away from harm
Though we drove for many a mile
It did its job, it made us smile.

Thank you for this wonderful cache; sorry we didn't see the train pull out of the station.

I returned from Tampa a few days ago and I brought the ChugaBug travel bug northward with me, so I was looking for a railway-related cache to send ChugaBug on its way.

Receiving high praise from MIDIWizard, I decided to make the trip from the Cape Cod Canal to check out The Depot.

Brandy (9) and I parked at the southern end of Robinwood Road where a couple with two small children asked where they were and what the nearby roads were. I glanced at the GPS and surmised as we joined them on the path. The man noticed the Fleece travel bug that I was carrying and putting two and two together, he asked if we were using the GPS "to do one of those treasure hunt things." I explained geocaching to them and for as interested as they sounded, I debated on asking them along if their direction of travel hadn't been opposite.

Parting ways and following the path, I kept a constant eye out for the birdhouse that marked the start of the path. We found a path about .16 miles from the cache coordinates that seemed to head in the right direction, but there were no birdhouses to be seen so we continued on.

Well into the loop and reaching waterfilled low ground, it was pretty evident that we missed the right path at some point. We continued on and soon started to see the minuscule birdhouses that probably marked the tail end of the path.

We found the woodland railway and were privileged to find Chooch himself standing trackside. I said hello and introduced myself and we talked about the impressive railroad that sprawled across the forest. I was taking picture after picture of the many features when Chooch informed us that he was going to be running the train. That was a great surprise and further opportunity to take pictures. As Chooch readied the engine, I located the key and opened the box that held the geocache and the letterbox. While signing the cache log, I explained letterboxing to Brandy and then we marvelled at some of the ornate stamps the letterbox log held.

Chooch fired up the engine and off it went around the complex track. There were a few minor issues that were probably due to the many leaves and pine needles, but it was a great experience. I'm going to have to watch MIDIWizard's video from on the train after logging this and uploading the pictures.

I left the ChugaBug travel bug to enjoy the railway.

I took the "Rescue: Stories of Survival from Land and Sea" book with curiosity as to whether any of my cache foundations are in there. I also removed the now defunct Chain Reaction travel bug clone, as it has been disabled by geocaching.com admin.

Thanks for your many hours of work on this hidden treasure Chooch, and for your tremendous hospitality. This was well worth the drive up from the Canal!

Minuscule crafted birdhouses adorn the trees

Video Train Day 2004!!! All I can say is THANK YOU CHOOCH!!! I contacted Chooch via e-mail and we all met up for some multi-train fun! We ran a total of 4 trains on his layout, and sometimes 2 at once! I brought my train, my friend brought his, and Chooch had 2 of his own there. We spent about 2 hours having lots of fun. Somewhere in there I found time to log the geocache. I never thought you could combine the model train hobby with geocaching until now! TNLN except lots of FUN!!! If you would like to see the train video from that day please go to my following web page: (visit link)

Visiting from Michigan. Found this very special cache this morning, after a Golden Retreiver we met on path pointed us the right direction. MAxB's Escorted TB tour group - "Paul Reveres Ride" enjoyed the tressle construction. Left TB Tis Himself. Took TB Couch Pigtato

Thanks for this impressive cache.

Everything came together quite nicely for my 100th cache find. A couple of weeks ago, I emailed the local expert on caches. OK, he's got more than 10 times the finds I have, so to me he is the local expert. His reply gave me a few choices, but his favorite was this cache. This was perfect since I was already planning to be here for the weekend. I just got find #99 last weekend. The weather all week was saying a good chance of rain today. The kids had just the right breaks between playing at the New England Music festival at the Newton Marriot. We parked the car, and headed down the trail. It was just slightly chili. We got to the train tracks, where we met Mr & Mrs chooch. (I asked if he was chooch, and he replied yes. I am assuming that was Mrs chooch.) They were the nicest people, and chooch offered to run the train for us. This was the first run of the season too. It worked nearly flawlessly, till the very end. Chooch has a little tweaking to do on a section of track. He told us it's an ongoing work in process. I donated a couple of pieces to chooch for possible future use on his work.

Took a bunny pencil sharpener, and a reflector.
Left a dump truck and a dinosaur.
Dropped off Couch Pigtato travel bug

We were in awe of this place. Thank you Mountain Wanderer for this suggestion

Thanks chooch for everything. I will have to stop by again when I'm in the area.

Found this one with Kelvin506. We missed the short way and took the long way. Nice walk, except for when the trail turned into a swamp for a hundred feet or so, and we had to walk around it. We've been reading about this online for a while, and finally made it.

We missed the obscure Bird house and went way out of our way. If fact, we ended up at the Boulders. Came in from the melting snow and riverlet. Thanks for the resting area.
Two people and dogs came by and wanted to know if it belonged to us and what was this grand thing. I'm amazed that it has escaped damage. We think that it is really not that far from the parking,if you find the birdhouse. I have been trying to get to this for over a year.

Yahoo! The Johnnyquesters absolutely loved this place. To us, it felt like a very magical location in the middle of the woods. When you explore the area's trails, keep on the lookout for birdhouses... although they seem to be more for winged fairies with tv addictions. Somebody has used a wonderful sense of creativity to make a section of woods into a fantastic treat. Took a car and a top and left a bunch of unifix cubes. Thanks for the best cache we've ever found!

What a wonderful, magical, and mysterious cache to seek on a Leap Day! I
tried to tell our 4 year old that on a leap day if you looked you could see
the workings of elves and fairies in the woods. Despite the many small fairy
homes and the industrial workings of the wood elves we found today, he was not
buying into the story. He insisted that what we seeing were toys left behind by boys who play in
the woods and we should find the boys for some play time. I stated the structures
looked like toys because elves make toys; this is why elves work at Santas
workshop. He counters that if boys could build this in the woods I should
be able to build one in our backyard. I tell him I cannot afford the fairy
dust required to build one. Still not a believer, he suggests I start saving
money and go to Home Depot. I guess that is what I get for trying to make up
a story for a 4 year old lawyer. Needless to say we really enjoyed this
cache and sat at the site a long time just taking it all in. Left a
signature item and traded a tape measure for a lego man. Thanks for the
cache, hope to be back in 4 years.

Great to have a digital camera to take pictures. To tell others of this site doesn't sink in until pictures are shown. This is not an average cache by any means. If we alll posted our photos you'd probably be overrun by seekers. Thanks for the great walk and great spot. Took the steamroller and left an air freshner.

Well this was the neatest hike we have ever done in terms of owner input along the hiking trail! We snapped numerous pictures as we followed the birdhouse trail to the Depot, and took more at the site itself. I really hope that the quarrying ice does not destroy the excellent work this cache owner has done here. TNLN except the Spring Forward - Fall Back TB, and left BTR (Bug Travel Ready) TB in its place. Thanks for a walk that had many little surprises and drew an equal number of smiles. After only being able to get half of the family convinced to head out for a walk, my son (5yo) and I were truly rewarded with this find. After having read some of the other posts, I felt I knew what to expect but never really believed it would be as good as the posts. I was right, the posts did not do this site justice. Only regret we did not get to see the train run. But we will be back with the rest of the clan.

The comments about the cache being unusual were certainly on track. You never know what you will find in the middle of the woods! The area in general made for interesting hiking with all the large boulders scattered around and lots of nice trails. Seemed like we were always going around in circles without ever finding a straight trail going where we wanted to! Thanks for a fun cache and a good excuse to visit a new area.

Imagine following the trail of letterbox clues in the dark with no GPS. We were determined to find this one because of it's reputation despite the gathering dusk. Imagine our surprise when "the Depot" area started to enter our flashlight beams. A wonderful gift of fun. I wish we'd had a lighter. Will return some day in the light. Scarab of the Doubtful Guests
P.S. The park closes at dusk so I don't recommend night visits.

Excellent cache! Brought my hubby here for a short stroll through the woods on this hot sunny day. He likes enjoying the outdoors from the comfort of a nicely air-conditioned car, so I had to coax him onto the trail with promises of something neat to see, and the location definitely delivered on that promise! Rare is the cache that would make me wax poetic, but this is the most fantastic cache I have been to. It reminded me of the old Robert Frost:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Thank you for a fantastic cache that doubled as my first letterbox find. It was beautiful, I LOVED all the little birdhouses

Took the little stuffed Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh fame and left a Where's George dollar bill. Took a picture, although someone left the flash on and it is dead, unfortunately. Logged in and also stamped in to the Letterboxing book.

Fantastic, I want to come back and see the train sometime.

THANKS!

Bird house goes high-tech
Chooch Express

 April 20, 2003 by Julia (126 found)
Thought I was going to abandoned train tracks, and encouraged a railway buff and two others to briefly leave an easter egg hunt party (less than a mile away) to go on their first geocache. Needless to say, none of us were disappointed with what we found instead.

Ruth, Gavin, Paul and I bumped into Corina, Spencer, Leah and Steven(?) on site. (There are incriminating photos of me almost biting a birdhouse, um, in an effort to demonstrate scale. If I get copies, I'll post them here.)

Waldenrun had already signed the log book (again) for April 21st. He's far, far, sneakier than I realized.

Already wearing bunny ears, I left an egg (with non-food goodie in it) and took the twin of a shark I lost years ago.

Stunning weather. This is one of those caches I'll gladly return to regularly. Is there train schedule, Chooch?

After hearing so many good things about this cache, I had to give it a try. This cache is very well put together and has the best goodies I have ever seen! I enjoyed watching the birds as much as seeing the rest of the station. It's nice to see so many feeders, and they are all full. I made my log and traded a front-end loader and a Ferrari car for the elephant and the dinosaur. I sat very still so I could see the birds up close for a while before heading out. What a great spot! I came in the back way, so missed the anticipation that would have developed coming in the 'right' way. Instead, the whole Depot just suddenly appeared in the middle of the woods! What a surprise!

Took some time to sit and relax. The birds didn't seem to mind... they kept coming to the feeders, ignoring me completely. Left plush tiger and shark keychain. Took car and dino, then headed out.

Due to a bit of confusion between paths, after finding another cache in the area, wound up near the path to the Depot... and had to go by a second time! Spent more time walking around, kept finding more and more little things hidden here and there. Will come back with the rest of the marmot troupe to take another look, hope to see the engineer on that visit.

The Marmot does not totally understand letterboxing, but hopes he was faithful to the spirit of letterboxing with his stamp.

OK You win. I have never taken a walk in the woods and come across such a wonderful and pleasant site. I don't know how you manage the neighborhood kids, but I assume you have a deal with them re: vandalism. This spot made my day. I was fortunate enough to take a birdhouse # 127 which will be one of the most interesting items ever found in a cache and left ? I forgot to write it down, probably a toy soldier or fireman. I will be back as I also do letterboxes and didn't know there was a stamp here also. Thanks for a wonderful place to visit.

I went back, this time with Gayle.
I took the last picture in the camera. It's a picture of Gayle.

It's a great place. It survived the winter well. There were a few little guys around that I had missed before.

What a fun cache! I have to come back with kids - I know they'll love it as much as I did. :) Spent a while hanging out and enjoying the work that was put into the location - thanks so much!
