The seventh in a series on "Lord of the Rings" theme.
The road to this cache is best described as an uphill 4WD track,
however I was able to get my Mazda E2000 pickup truck in without
too much worry. (The road was dry, which helped). If you dont want
to drive up, the walk isn't that far. Just keep an eye out for orcs
and other servants of the dark lord.
Mount Doom was the place where Frodo & Sam had to go to destroy
the Ring by casting it into its fiery centre. Frodo's finger was
bitten off in a desperate struggle with Gollum before the Ring and
Gollum were finally swallowed up in its molten depths.

November 2, 2008 by Ric the Adventurer (147 found) Spent the afternoon caching in the area with ‘Lambs on the run’. Spent about 20 minutes searching mount doom but found that there are a lot of burnt out trees. There may have been some muggle activity as there was a campsite near by. Will put this cache on my watch list. If a find is recorded, I will revisit. Cheers Ric.

January 6, 2008 by darthvandal (44 found) If you intend to brave the fires of Mount Doom for this cache, be aware of the potential danger which overhangs GZ. It is possible that you might end up being in the right place at the wrong time.

January 6, 2008 by darthvandal (44 found) My second cache for the day with Penny/Wilbur. Our journey to the top of Mount Doom was long and bumpy, on account of us taking the harder of the two approaches.Upon reaching the summit it seemed a simple matter to walk in and retrieve the cache, however a combination of poor satellite coverage and that a small tree had fallen on GZ meant that the marsh flies had over 20 minutes to eat as much as they could of us. I wonder what they eat when they can't get hobbit? After retrieving the cache we found the northern approach was much easier than the western approach that we took. Left: Babe the travelbug. Took: Gorl from Deltora Quest 1. TFTC
